If you are only able to shoot and kill 3-4 people with your 9-round magazine, that's OK. But if you can take your 100-round drum mag and kill about 50 that's BAD. What if you stuff your vest with 10 of the 9-round magazines and are really good at dropping a spent mag, reloading a fresh one, and continuing on (any weekend IDPA-class shooter is decent at this) - It might take a little longer, but you can still accomplish most of what you're trying to do - That's OK? You're in a school, nobody is armed or can fight back...police are a few minutes from entering the building once the first shots ring out...so some additional time reloading isn't going to hold you back that much really. What if you are like Jerry Mickulek (Google him if you don't know who I'm talking about) and can fire a 5-shot group from a Smith & Wesson .357 REVOLVER into a target the size of a playing card in .57 seconds? A few 5-round speed loaders in your jacket pocket and you have some real firepower when you are that good. But wait, it's an ugly old classic REVOLVER...it's not a big mean ugly black hollywood and video-game glorified assault rifle...so that must be OK, right?
Bottom line, in all this back and forth about types of guns and size of magazines and what purpose they were built for, everybody has ignored the real issue that needs addressing - THERE'S A MENTALLY SIDEWAYS NUTJOB THAT WANTS TO KILL INNOCENT PEOPLE.
That's my logic...partly because I understand guns...but also because I think it's common sense.
