    Taylorsville Bank Catfishin?

I'm going to be doing some bank fishing tonight at Taylorsville. I've never fished for catfish much and never at Taylorsville.

Was just curious if someone could tell me some good spots I can fish from the bank.

Also are the shad close enough in to catch in a cast net? Any tips would be much appreciated.

You're pushing it kinda close, asking now & heading out tonight .... so don't be surprised if you don't get many responses.

Even so .... you can bank fish around any of the 4 launch ramps, and down at the dam, without having to drag your gear any great distance. You could also fish the spillway, below the dam (but with only 50cfs flow, I'm not sure that would be a good option).

Can't help you with the whereabouts of the Shad ... but, you may draw some in with your lights. Otherwise, you might try casting your net at the launch ramps (during periods when there's no launching/trailering going on). If you don't get Shad, you could always try cut sunfish ... just be sure & release any sportfish that you net, including Shellcrackers (Longear Sunfish).

If you've never been to T-ville ... look up the city of Taylorsville on Google Earth, Mapquest, Googlemaps, or Yahoomaps, and zoom in on the lake. It will show you where the launch ramps are & the roads to take to get to them.

    Thanks for the info Pappy.

Fishing tonight was kind of a last minute decision. Thought I would ask anyway. Even if I get no replies I was still going.

    Hot dogs

Use hot dogs instead if baitfish! Easy to find and cheap too! I always have success using hot dogs when I go out on a boat tho. I really don't think fishing from the shore will make a big diffrence. Ik there's a video on YouTube about "the best catfish bait" and they mix up hot dogs and strawberry jello mix. Don't know if it works but you could give it or just regular hotdogs a try! Not saying the baitfish won't work but my favorite is hot dogs! Hope this helped -drew

Stop at the grocery and buy a bag of frozen shrimp. As bought bait goes it isn't all that expensive and the cats seem to love them.

I've never tried hot dogs but may give that one a go also.

If your fishing the dam go down to the tailwaters first and toss a cast net youll catch as many shad as you want. you could try fishing the left side of the marina. ive seen a couple of guys catching a few out there. Slip floats work best fishing 6-8 ft deep. good luck

My bait of choice for t-ville is liver. I've caught drum, cats, carp, hybrids, blue gill, gar and sauger fishing liver out there.

    Louisville District Daily Lake Report

This is where I look to get water level related info ... and if you click on the blue number under "Todays Pool Feet", a chart will come up showing the water level trends (highs/lows), rain amount, and flow for the past year.
