Geo ... Not much help as we have fished Ky Lake around middle part of lake but its been all ledges with 10" worms doing the trick. Tequila sunrise and Plum have been hot for us. Gone through four packs of them in three days. Best of luck.

    218 reads and 1 reply........WOW.

Oh well. I made a decent day of it today. Fished early, pulled off and fished late. had 3 keepers early and 4 keepers late.

Fished quite a few ledges but didn't really do much on them. I'm not a great ledge fisherman, so that is understandable...besides every single ledge I know of had about 6 or 7 boats on it. And some of those guys would roll up on you and put down within boat length of you.....and then cuss you out for being in their spot. I know, it happened twice today.

Something else.......I know there is a reason I don't fish this time of year. I about came to blows with a bunch of drunks coming into poplar creek tonight. I was fishing the mouth there. I know there is not much room, so I pull up my stuff and wait for him to pass........I didn't say a word and this guy tells me "that's right, I pay to EFFEN park here"......

I told him I didn't say crap to him, and then he proceeded to cuss me..........I told him he could jump out on the dock and I'd kick his DRUNK ASS into yesterday if he'd like, or he could STFU.......I was hot. And now, my wife knows why I don't go in the summer

No ass kickings were dealt out, but I had to hear it from my wife for the next hour.......

I ended up catching 3 solid fish there in poplar creek, with the best going at just at 3lbs.

What I found amazing is that I caught 4 keeper smallmouth today.....

2 in the morning and 2 in the evening.

All fish were caught on soft plastic or jig.

I haven't been able to fish KY Lake in a few years now. I enjoy reading about people's trips there. But, it sounds as if it's not too friendly of a place has been in the past. I would definitely not plan a trip there in the summer and by reading some past post, I'm not sure I want to even go there. It is such a shame that a few bad apples can spoil something so awesome and beautiful. There are thousands of acres of water and everyone seems to want the same spot!!! Lack of respect is a huge problem, not only at the lake, but everywhere. As for folks drinking while on the lake, I have zero tolerance for that activity. Heat, sun, waves, wind and lots of boat traffic combined with alcohol is a recipe for a disaster. People that can't spend a day at the lake without drinking have a serious problem. They may say they don't and when they say that...well, that's a sign that they really do have a problem. The Ky Lake is such a beautiful place. People should want to share it's beauty....and I'm sure many do, but it's the few that keep folks away and that keeps away economic growth. So sad!!! Sorry to rant and I know it happens at lakes all over our great state. That's why I can't wait for summer to be over, so the fools can go back inside and I can go back fishing. Please stay safe out there. I know it's hard, but getting into legal trouble and/or going to jail because of some idiot is just not worth it. You might change their attitude for a few minutes, but they will still not have any respect and their actions will continue to be the same. Again, sorry for the rant. Good fishing and catch some for me.

    Heat of Summer

And lets not even talk about the 3 wave runners being extremely dangerous in poplar creek. The went there because it is "QUIET". They were sitting there, taking a break on the dock. Had been there for at least 10 minutes, while I unloaded my boat.

AND they were not moving an inch. I told them they needed to move because I was tying off on the dock......and then proceeded to move towards the dock. Some punk 12 yr old started mouthing off about how I better not scratch his new wave runner.........at that point, I unloaded the big dog, and simply did a half donut, washing his wave runner out of the way, and putting my boat on the dock.

He didn't say a word. I politely told him to have a nice day, as my wife got in the boat, and we took off.

We stayed right there at Buzzard Rock too and of course with the wet bar being there you're naturally going to have lots of drunkards around and believe me, they do. I've got my wife and my four year old so I've got little tolerance for their behavior BUT OTOH, I've been there done that too about fifteen years ago in my younger days.

That mouth is ridiculously small right there and there's always someone bank fishing it too, makes for tight squeezes when passing a boat. I'm not a bass fisherman but I would say Champion Springs Cove would be pretty good for bass. It's the little cove next to Poplar Creek, to the west of it actually.

I also stayed at Katie's and she talked about you and what a good customer you've been through the years. I told her I didn't know you personally but knew you through the internet.

I will stay here until she's no longer running the place. It is a little more than a lot of places around the lake, but I know beyond a doubt the place is clean, and somewhere I don't mind bringing my wife.....

My wife and I also like staying up at Lighthouse Landing, but man, that place is crazy spendy.....but if I'm just planning a get away, it is pretty neat.

What is wrong with fishermen? I can understand a bunch of drunks and kids but the fishermen pulling in on you and cursing because you are fishing a spot is mindboggling? What is wrong with people these days?

A simple lack of respect. Maybe those guys placed some structure there and they feel that it is "their spot". But, with modern electronics, finding structure is easier and is why we spend money on the newest electronics. I can almost guarantee that those same people have electronics in their boat for the same reason. And I also bet they find and fish structure that was placed there by someone else. I have placed structure and once I put it in public water, it's no longer mine. If someone else finds it, then so be it and good luck to them. I'll hit it when they move on. But that's just me. Others think much differently.
