Nolin so far this year ?

ok, I have bass fished nolin 3-4 times this year already with not much luck ! went out last Sat night from 11pm to 2:30 am with only 1 10 inch bass. them was back out yesterday morning looking for some jumps and found some scattered jumps around the mouth of canolloway. hooked one 12 inch bass and wind kicked up and killed the jumps. but anyway, has anyone been having any luck not just at nolin but for the year as a whole ? just wondering if its just my luck or is fishing not been that good this year so far. the weather has not been that bad this spring. just looking for your all's opinion ? later jc

I fished Nolin Wed evening thru friday afternoon. Wednesday evening I fished by myself and I caught about 15 beating the banks, had best luck around deep points.

Thursday morning we chased the jumps from Canolloway to the dam and caught 50+ between us. We went out Thurs evening and the lake was dead...no jumps anywhere.

Friday morning we had our best time with the jumps and caught at least 75+, most came from one big pocket that we stayed on for a couple hours.

So out of ~150 bass we may have had five that went 3 pounds, which was about the biggest we caught the whole time.

If you don't mind me asking, what were you throwing in the jumps? I usually throw flukes or pop-r's but have problems keeping them buttoned up with the topwater.

I ended up just using two rods for the jumps. One had a LC G-Splash 80 and the other had a white Rooster Tail on it. I used spinning reels and had 2-10 Power Pro braid on. The braid really helps when they hit on a long cast.

Be careful getting the treble hooks out of the spunky bass, a guy at the campground got a Devil's Horse stuck to his hand. I offered to get it out for him but he chose to let the hospital do it.

I use top water popper 1st,then if they wont take popper on top or jumps are scattered I put on a version of a little George that bass pro sells--small lead weighted lure with one treble hook and one single small Colorado blade on back. I will throw very far for a small lure. really helps when they are jumping 20-40 yards from the boat. also keeps you from running from jump to jump so much. I also use flukes it the jumps are massive and close to boat. usually 1 of the 3 will produce, sometimes all 3 produce. later jc

Where do you guys catch them jumping most of the time...I fished the 22nd and 23rd and never saw a jump. I am back towards the Nolin Lake Estates area. I don't feel like I see very many jumps that often while down there. I have been trying to catch a few whites the past few years but havent had much luck. Glad your luck turned around for you and sounds like you had a good time!!

last year I seen very few jumps at nolin, seems to be better this year. last sunday morning hit the lake around 9:00 am. fish where in the jumps until about noon probably because it was cloudy. after the sun came out late morning they seem to shut off. best time to look for jumps for me is 1st--in the morning from daylight to noon---2nd from 6:00 pm to dark. I have found them in the jump at a lot of different places--you just never know--but heres some areas that have produced for me.......out from Red rock----mouth of connoaway--main lake by m/dear campground---have also heard of some good jumps in open water right in frt of the dam. sometimes I just take a ride around the lake in areas I have had luck before at these times. some days I see a lot of jumps, others I see a few and others I see none. keep hunting and be on the water at these times and you will find them ! later jc

Went this evening and was nearly skunked. Caught two that I wouldn't even call dinks. We were clearly doing it wrong.
