I have used the word quite often in my life. "Nigga" was just a slang term between me and my friends. So was "nip", "chinc" and "white boy". None of it was in anger just fun and goofing around.
IMO the way that "nigga" gets special treatment is because of the idiots like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and others scream for justice and constantly push it down Americans throats that racism against blacks needs to be wiped out at all costs. They push the race card more than most and make a mountain out of a molehill, and in doing so anything associated with "blacks" becomes taboo. Wanna stop the N word??? You can't. Wanna stop the guilt and fear associated with it? Get the self proclaimed black leaders to clean up their own houses first. We live in an age that we have a dark skinned potus, black Attorney General, countless black business owners, black coaches, black millionaires, black members of congress, black news anchors, black leaders in the military, black entertainment tele, black miss America, African heritage week, MLK day, black dating services, NAACP, black Caucus and on and on and on....and America is racist and needs to do more? The N word is disgraceful and using it can ruin a career??? Come on!!! It's "white Guilt" fear mongering from people who gain from pushing that "political correctness" junk. I'm sick of the special treatment of blacks.....and for the country to move forward the special separation of this one group of people needs to stop....or be allowed with other groups of people.

Oh, to heck with it...I just can't help it...Occasions like this call for my favorite Dave Chappelle skit:

He's black, so you can't be offended.

The funniest dang clip of all time. The first time I saw this I laughed so hard I almost pulled a muscle. All the crusaders on here are probably tightening up like a pulled hamstring right now but who cares this is hilarious I don't care who you are.

Way to go Brain, Nads are hard to find these days....

    WOW........

Funny as ****...but if I find it funny, I'm a racist......if a black man finds it funny, it is simply funny.

THAT is the problem with the word.

    Later,

    Geo

The article is an OUTSTANDING piece of writing. But George, you're wrong about the Chappelle piece. That's the beauty of it. I think it's a brilliant sketch.

While we're on the subject, you may be interested in this old Lenny Bruce piece. This is actually Dustin Hoffman, from the movie "The Essential Lenny Bruce" (which I saw in the theater when it came out). Lenny first performed it back in the late 50's. I don't know if his line of reasoning really works, but his heart was in the right place.

RoadToad.....I had never seen that skit.......I think it absolutely applies, and I think if you could take the HATE out of how it is used, which is nearly impossible, you'd kill the word.

BUT, personally, I believe the N word is much more hurtful and hateful than any OTHER of those words used by Dustin Hoffman in that skit......
