This has always bugged me about LMPD

It seems to me that Louisville cops are above the law. If this Officer Adams had not been a cop, he would have gone to jail. As it is, the man was doing 83 mph in a 45 mph zone, t-boned this woman and killed her, and he didn't even lose his job:

And this isn't the first time something like this has happened. In 2006 Officer Jason Brown was speeding the wrong way down a one-way street with no lights or siren on, hit and killed an innocent motorist, and went unpunished:

    http://www.wave3.com/story/5090100/c...indict-officer

And it wasn't even his first time! He had already hit and killed somebody before he even became a cop:

I seem to remember at lease one other occurrence, but I can't find the story. I don't know if it's just hard to find (I had to do some digging to find what I did) or if my memory is flawed. Regardless...

Compare that to Demond Brown, who ran a red light and struck a Geo Metro, killing a woman and her daughter. He was not drunk or on drugs, showed remorse, and apparently thought the light was red in all 4 directions. He was convicted of 2 counts of first-degree murder, and received 2 20-year sentences.

I'm sorry if this offends any police officers on this board. And I know there are a lot of GOOD cops on the LMPD. But looking at these stories (and I think a lot of us can come up with others to add), I just keep coming back to that same conclusion: If you're a Louisville cop, you're above the law.

it's not just Louisville, and your not the only one that feels that way. I have a neighbor that is a cop, and different times both my wife and myself have been sitting at a red light waiting for our turn to get through, and here he comes, turns his blue lights on and slows down a little and goes on through the light, then turns his lights off, when the light turns green I follow him on my way home, and their his car sits in his drive way. just used the cop car to keep from having to stop like every one else.

In my opinion, if a police car is exceeding the speed limit, its lights should be on. Period.

Also, I know it's not a law, but everyone is supposed to "Keep Right Except to Pass", correct? Well not cops. Most cruise about 15 MPH above the speed limit in the left lane.

I think Jason Brown was going code three if memory is correct. He was fired. Adams the other was drunk.

Your memory is NOT correct; I distinctly remember that he had no lights or siren on. He WAS responding to a call at the time. And when you say "Adams the other was drunk," I assume you're referring to the woman he killed? Her toxicology test kit mysteriously disappeared, but let's say she was. He still was going over 80 in a 45 zone, when he was off-duty. If he'd been obeying the speed limit, like we civilians have to do, he would have had plenty of time to stop.

Cops are more scrutinized than probably any other job. I don't know what you do, if you make a mistake is it on the news? Does the news misrepresent facts for several months or even years to make cops look bad. Yes all the time. Do we get the benefit of doubt in an investigation? Nope.

Write down the license plate numbers and call it in. If your that mad about it. If that is your only gripe about the cops in this area then we are doing pretty good.

We are not selling drugs out of police cars, taking bribes, look at other pds around and see how corrupt they are.

Later I am off to the beach, by the way I am going to drive like hell to get there.lol

We have some LMPD regular members on the forum here.

My office is in a bad area in Louisville (330 East Breckenridge St. at the corner of Preston St. ). For the last twenty three years LMPD has been extreemely helpful to me. Everyone officer I have met was top notch and went beyond the call of duty. It always helps a lot to treat them nicely and with respect as they deal with all types of people all day.

That doesn't necessarily mean the crash was her fault. He was doing almost twice the speed limit, while he was off-duty. Fact. I don't care if she was passed out behind the wheel, I still say that had not be gong at a rate of speed that would have gotten ME arrested, he would had plenty of time to stop.

NO matter what is said you are always right. Send me your address and I will have it put into CAD so if something ever happens at your place I will be sure no we all drive with all due regard. Not going to argue any more.

That might be a valid response, if Adams had been responding to a call when the accident occured. He was OFF DUTY, heading to a SIDE JOB, going nearly TWICE the speed limit. Facts which you seem to have no trouble ignoring.
