Harmful Algae Bloom at Barren and Rough

Rough has a Harmful Algae Bloom warning posted on their FB page. Barren also tested even worse than Rough and has the HAB warning and Nolins test are pending, they most likely will have the same issue. I have heard of a small fish kill in Barren already but I didn't see it myself.

I have been on these lakes for close to fifty years and have never heard of a harmful algae bloom. Now all the sudden their everywhere maybe its just me , but i think the epa,world health org.,gov. & ect. Are becoming to intrusive.they have their hands in everything. Killing the coal & petroleum industry, along with health care. Also,don't forget the issue with fishing behind the dams. I'm getting tired of the gov. Watching out for me. For over 200 yrs. We took care of ourselves, now no ones capable. Also, don,t forget the global warming hoax now referred to as climate change. Follow the money al gore made a fortune off that load of bull, sorry i got off subject but just a little tired of being lied too. Man i feel better!! Keep fishing,swimming, skiing, hunting. & boating while you can still afford it or until its restricted.i'm done

Probably a dumb question, but what exactly causes a harmful algae bloom?

run off from pollutants like fertilizers on surrounding farms and things like that supposedly have a lot to do with it.

SLP, it occurs in most lakes just not at the harmful levels they prescribe to give warning. The elevated level can be caused by many factors. Mainly nutrient over load which can be from improperly functioning sewer systems adjacent to the lake or in the water shed, livestock runoff, fertilization of farms and yards and recreational lake users relieving themselves in the lake. The heavy rains we had with the ground already saturated caused runoff to carry some to the lake in higher amounts and before it had time to be bacterially reduced. But I have to say Snookman hits on a interesting question, why is a US agency using the World Health Org's standards within a State? We do pay taxes to fund the EPA, US Dept of Health, NOAA and the CDC plus others on the Federal level who generally claim to be the authority and in addition the State has an equal number of agencies funded, claiming the same powers. Snookman heres a question to ask them and make their head spin. If a US Government Agency acts in a manner to appear to be directed by a Foreign entity, the WHO, a branch of the UN and that agency is the US Army and they perform this act within a State of the Union, wouldn't that be Unconstitutional and being the US Army shouldn't the one giving the order be charged with Treason? Now I'm dizzy, need to go catch some of those Blue Green Bass.

Not to nitpick, but given the incredible water volume we're talking about, can this even be a significant factor?

LOL I was thinking the same thing, the PPM (parts per million) would be incredibly negligible, no it's not a factor what so ever.

If it is an algae bloom, wouldn't that be good for the little fish and the future of the fishery, as long as there is
ample oxygen for the bigger fish.
