Even if it was not true this 10% ethanol is causing problem already so something need to be done about that. Where I live no place sells gas without ethanol in it.

Take a look at this. Might be of help for now.

    http://www.amazon.com/Star-brite-Tro...7645540&sr=1-3

Ask some good mechanics about it. I did and they all had good things to say. Supposedly helps with the ethanol.
Now fifteen percent is another story. All the engine makers say that right in the manual.

One of those big water separators the size of an oil filter helps to. They only cost about forty bucks. A good mechanic told me to change the filter every year because they will rust inside. The mechanics in this region all tell me use Marathon, no BP. They say there is a chemical in the BP gas. Benzene or something like that.

Thanks for the link! Personally, I don't go out of my way to get non-ethanol gas. If you use gas treatments and don't let it sit for too long, you should be good. If I know I'm not going to use the gas in my boat for a couple weeks, I simply pump it out and put it in my truck. I don't really trust the storing chemicals for more than a few gallons of fuel.

NOPE.........only unadulterated NON - ETHANOL gas for me.

Ethanol will destroy your motor. Not willing to rebuild my Opti because of bad political decisions........

Nothing wrong with your decision. But running 10% ethanol in an Opti will not cause problems as long as proper precautions are taken. Now if the content is increased we are screwed.

P.S. I just looked at the map around my area, and the closest non-ethanol gas station is 30 minutes away haha. Sure if I am going that way I will get it, but that is what I get for living in BFE.

If I was close to one or was going by one, I would fill up so I wouldn't have to add a $12 bottle of treatment. Definitely a site I will use in the future as I venture further away from the local lakes.

I use the star brite treatment but have read articles from Mercury and Yamaha techs that say there is no additive that totally eliminates phase separation in ethanol fuel. I use the treatment just in case they are wrong but I'd say they are not.

Last time I had boat in shop I asked mechanic to change fuel lines to the newer lines. He kinda laughed and asked me why and I told him so that I could use ethanol gas in a pinch, he just laughed. When he told me what he thought was so funny I decided that I would absolutely not use ethanol gas in my outboard ever again!

All 2013 and up Ford gas motors are E-85 compliant, warranty unaffected, and same engine performance for HP and torque, just about 10% loss in EPA mileage. No harm to Ford engine components.
