t's been a good one lasted 26 years, it's been replaced with a new one. thought I'd share some pictures from start to finish of the new deck, if I can post them. did it all by myself, a few hours each weekend, took a while but feels good to say I did it my way. you can click on the pictures and they get bigger, to show more detail.

Very NICE...........I have that as a project maybe next year........
You did a great job.
Looks like a professional install! That last pick of the dam looks nice too!![]()
VERY NICE, indeed.
I've got one about the same size that I'd like to bulldoze and start over. It's not up high like yours is though - Mine's ground level.
When do you want to start on it? lol
Nice job! Great looking railing too.
My first question is do I have to rebuild my deck before I can go fishing again too?
My second question is how difficult was it to move the house close enough to see the river from the deck?
thanks fellows for the kind words, I'm not finished yet. building the stairs and a 4x8 landing half way down, and placing patio paver's under the Deck. I'll post a picture of the finished look when finished. and I thought some of you guys would recognize the fishing hole.
Very nice Waterdog! What did you seal it with??And what do you guy's think would be the best option for sealing an existing deck?Something that will last longer than 2 years cause it's a pain and I'd rather be fishing LOL. Chuck
Dang liberal can drive some nails and sink some screws. Nice work Waterdog...
Hey Chuck, Cabots makes some good stuff but there is better out there but very pricey. If you have aging wood go with a good oil base versus water based just this ole nail driver's opinion. Stay away from solid colors and use semi-transparent.
thanks Chuck, I haven't sealed it yet, but here is what I'll use when I do. I'm sure there's something better out there, but I don't know what it would be. good luck with whatever you choose.

now ain't that something, it just takes time for everything. I finally posted something you liked. I think that alone was worth the price of the Deck. just messing with you mhall, glad you liked it, as far as driving nails go, I can sink them with the best, and can build most anything made with wood.
I hear ya WD. Awe you and I aren't as far apart as one might think and have alot in common.now ain't that something, it just takes time for everything. I finally posted something you liked. Hey don't use that Thompson's it is a paraffin base and does ok but needs it every year. Also once you use that stuff you are married to it forever, even acetone won't remove it. Not trying to be a know it all just throwing you some ideas. Look at some of the others out there if you desire completely clear, there is some really good products on the market today.
I just replaced my entire floor and handrail on my deck. Basically all horizontal surfaces. I dried all the wood to 15 to 19% checking with my moisture meter. Then I pre-sealed on saw horses with Cabot's semi-clear oil base. I like it's performance so far, will it old up to direct UV......We'll see and I will report in a year or so.
Again, good work sir..............Have a great day.
