That's odd, I just heard a report that the ice in the Artic is the thickest it's been in a long time. There is so much ice that they are worried about the polar bears not being able to find food.

And as for the left coast falling into the sea, I hope it doesn't. Just think of all that left coast thinking moving into fly over country. Oh no!

How does an ICEBURG, floating in the water melt and displace more water?? Basic science disproves that completely.

You can try this little experiment yourself. Put an ice cube in a glass of water. MARK the waterline. Come back an hour later, when the ice cube is melted............ENOUGH SAID.

    Later,

    Geo

Because that iceberg used to be part of a glacier on land. It became an iceberg once it hit water. All that land ice, melts, sealevel rises.

Polar Bears are in the north pole. This paper was about south pole.

after you place the glass of water with the ice cube in it and mark the waterline, now lets call the glass of water the ocean. now lay a bag of ice next to the glass, { this can be the on land Glacier Ice } only have it placed above the glass and push a tube into the bag of ice with the other end in the glass. { or your ocean } now warm up the room and see if the melting bag of ice, { which would be the on land glacier ice } makes the water in the glass { or your ocean } rise above the waterline. a floating Iceberg may not displace more water, but an Ice Glacier above sea level that is melting and making it's way into the ocean, does indeed displace more water.

Hahahahahahaha!! I guess the fear mongers have learned from Al Gores failed predictions based on science!!! Rule #50 on fear mongering....do not make predictions that can be proven wrong by man or nature. So old Al predicts polar ice caps gone by 2014 oooops...he didn't read rule#50. Oh well he made 200 million dollars off of people who loved to be told about the upcoming doom.

You see the way to do it is make predictions of doom to be 200 years in the future. Who can prove it wrong? Hahahahaha!! What's next??? Aliens gonna come down and build more pyramids in 300 years??

If the ice is gonna melt are we gonna get another name change? Global warming wasn't good enough because we have had some record winters, so we went to climate change...hmmmm (great name by the way because it's always correct) what's the next name gonna be?? It has to change to grip the masses of new scientific findings and to get people to contribute time and money to the cause. Global furnace? No it doesn't roll off the tongue....I think "Global Climate Change Past Present and Future" that should do it!!!

Read my post again...........It never mentioned glacier.

The same folks screaming about the caps melting simply cannot concede that the caps are growing.......

And yet another reason why I get pissed at you lefties..............Yea, I understand about water displacement.

I wasn't talking about ice surrounding my ice cube in a cup. I was talking about the FREAKIN ICE cube in the cup, nothing else. I was trying to make it extremely simple for the simpletons around here.

I guess I didn't quite reach my goal.

    Oh well..........

you had me confused, Moveon's post was talking about melting Glacier ice, and you asked, how does a iceberg floating in the water, displace more water. Moveon's post wasn't talking about an iceberg floating in the water, it was talking about warming temps melting the Glacier ice and making the ocean water level rise. I just assumed you were a Simpleton rightie and thought Moveon was talking about a floating iceberg melting, making the ocean rise. I was just trying to be helpful, making it extremely simple for you righties to see, Moveon was talking about melting Glacier ice, that is above sea level. melting and entering the ocean, making it rise. it's good to hear you say, you understand about water displacement. just back up and read your post where you replyed to Moveon's post and you should see where you had me confused.
