Okay, so new to the Louisville area. So far the fishing experience has been a disappointment. We've tried the Free/neighborhood lakes - Long Run, McNeely, Waverly, Fishermans lake. It's quite obvious - these places are heavily fished and/or crowded upon arrival.
When I go fishing, I take the whole family. Wife and 2 kids. At times, it's mostly my son and I. Could anyone recommend or if you know of a private pond/lake that you could share with me to ensure we actually catch fish? Not looking for anything specific, but any fish - bluegill, bass, cat fish, etc.
Any help or knowledge of where atleast my son and I can go to have some success would be greatly appreciated. Had a friend recommend a his neighborhood pond, but they were tiny tiny fish lol... Minnow like bluegills - not fun.
Thanks again and I like the site so far.

Go check out the falls of the Ohio below mcalpine **** from the Indiana side. Try to strike up conversation with somebody fishing over there. I have found most people over there very helpful. Water level in current affects the fishing over there in a big way. When it's good you'll see a Tons of people fishing.
I don't think there are any small fish over there.
Oops. Just reread your post about taking the whole family. It can be treacherous there. Might not want to do that. You should check it out though and see what you think.Go check out the falls of the Ohio below mcalpine **** from the Indiana side. Try to strike up conversation with somebody fishing over there. I quit fishing there year ago and I was raised there!!! lol.... go out side of Louisville fishing can be good I fish out of meade county grayson and bric not as much fishing pressure;-)
Start knocking on people's doors and just ask. Also go on kdfwr's website and see where and when they are stocking catfish. Try talking to some people and you may find someone willing to show you there private pond. The worst that can happen is they say no!
Check out Deam Lake

If you aren't after trophy sized fish, there is no shortage of water in Jefferson county that will produce recreational fishing results. Try Beargrass creek, particularly in Cherokee park. All of the corporate ponds in the east end have fish in them too, and those places are abandoned after 6 PM.
