What areas of Barren River Lake?

Guys - I'm not asking for specific locations, just a general area that would produce some large-mouth this time of year. I've been the last couple weekends near port oliver ramp and haven't had much luck.

Should I try near the state park or walnut creek area? Also, is deep diving cranks and crigs the setups to use this time of year.

I'm not a tourny fisher, just looking to catch enough to keep me interested. Thanks for your help.

I don't believe any one area will produce better than the other this time of year. it's more about the bait than anything. This is just a tough time of year to fish. I believe that most of the fish are out in open water roaming with the bait fish.....but that's just my belief. I'm sure you could always go up river and catch some shallow resident fish.

Fish between the hours of 0600 and 1000. And maybe 2200 and 0200.

If your fishin early, concentrate on topwater over cover in 2-5'. Hit the backs of coves, points, any stick or stump you might see. I like the bank from Bailey's point boat ramp going towards the state park. Lots of good cover there. but it gets a lot of boat traffic once the dipshits wake up and hit the water. Plus the trees there shield the sun for a while. I love a buzz bait this time of year. White or chartreuse. Jitterbug would be fun.

    Barren

I fish for Ky Bass on the bluff walls in about 18 to 20 ft. Early fish top-waters parallel to the wall just inches away from it for some explosive blow-ups. Keep a 3"tube jig handy to follow up missed strikes. Fish shady bluffs during the day use the tube jig in 3/8 oz and fish it deep to fire those big Ky's up. I like cabin creek in green pumpkin and smoke pepper colors.Hoppin a 3/8 oz black&blue jig w/ a blue Zoom super chunk will produce some biggin's too. Fish will not be jerking the rod out of your hand, you are fishin deep watch your line and subtle feel nothing strikes and you will have a decent day.
