Really? It's 2am and someone is breaking in your house and you don't reach for a gun? Your traveling late at night with your family and have a flat tire and a car stops to "help" but really want to help themselves to your belongings instead? A gun would not make you feel safer? Able to protect what is yours??

i could go on and on with stories that having a gun handy does make me feel safer. Guns are nothing exotic to me meaning I have used and had them most of my life. I can tear my favorites down blindfolded and reassemble them the same way. I shoot quite often in the Winter (usually cause I'm bored and want to do something) so maybe all that makes me think of guns as another tool I can use? I don't know, but I stand behind my statement of people having guns is a right and I do think having them can make people feel safer.

i have my CCDW but don't have a pistol strapped to my side everyday but it's in my briefcase. The only time in the recent past that I actually carried to make me feel safer was when we went downtown to the Opera House to see "the Phantom of the Opera" which was good btw,.....but I knew walking back at night with my lady to the car in the parking garage was a situation that could get "hairy" so I put a small pistol in my pocket as a just in case.

My big go to thing on a daily basis are my knives. I carry two....one to use (Spyderco ambitious) for opening boxes, cutting tasks and it's the knife I pull out if someone says hey do you have a knife. Now the other one is a Spyderco Mannix 2 XL (look it up). It scares anyone who thinks knives that big shouldn't be legal and to be honest I don't pull that out in public because of people who are "sheep" and get offended easily.

    I just like options!!!

    my option

I'm going to buy a cane, one with a sword in it. Its a health aid, in more ways than one. When I lived in the boonies, here in KY I open carried a pistol, plain sight, but only while walking my dog, for mutual protection. Talk about a scary blade, ever see those water mellon knives?

Amen, same here brother. Here is something that's also gets me...many Liberals feel that the Police will save them if they are doing their job and solving every crime, responding to any call within seconds, raising kids the gubment way and not spanking or being "mean" with discipline so they wont grow up to be crooks.

HAHAHAHA yeah ok....reality check...police do what they can and cannot be at every call much less within seconds. Our country has enabled several classes of people to raise crooks and even encourage it to get what they want out of others....they will never stop. The gubment having a major say in how kids are raised is wrong. I say major because they will always have some influence but the day in and day out raising of children is on the parents.

I'm sure you are right speaking individually and in a given situation that having a firearm would give a little peace of mind but from the standpoint of the country as a whole I do not believe the general public feels more secure with guns everywhere as opposed to a country where they are not as plentiful, as another poster said, do you guys believe the regular citizens in the middle east feels better that every body they come across is carrying an assault rifle... I was in vietnam for 12 months and every soldier had a weapon close by and that did not make for a "feel safe" situation...

Your thought process baffles me. First you comparte the cultlure here to the middle east, which is abusrd. Second, you ignore facts that are staring you right in the face, and instead, stick to your opinion. The thing about your opinion is that it is wrong, facts PROVE that guns cause lower crime rates and prevent crimes. Not sure what is so hard to figure out about it.

The number of guns in the U.S. has increased by more than 60 percent since 1994. Latest figures show there are 310 million guns in this country of 307 million people. That’s more than one gun per person.

    are you secure?

OK you have 3 weapons, one in your car, two in the house, ready for bear. your neighbor is equally armed. You live in gated sub division, fear of home invasion is nil. The other side of town, not the same. BUT they are also armed, butthey are a "criminal" element according to your estimate. In the middle is a police force. They feel ALL of you are wackos. Right now if I toot my horn to wake up a cell phoner at a light, will he wave, or get out and shoot? The seventh day adventice at my door, or is a home invader? This second amendment didn't come into being in the last 10 years, but now its becoming extreme. You NEED to have a weapon, because EVERYONE does. My parents didn't. My in laws didn't. My married childrens in laws didn't. How about your mom and dad. Not sporting arms, personal weapons, for self defense. My kid think I'm a wacko cause of the guns, think about it. we are becoming a paranoid country.

I don't have a problem with gun ownership, have never in 69 years felt I needed a defensive weapon outside of vietnam... There is a handgun here someplace but I couldn't find it and any ammo for it if I needed it in a hurry... The thing about guns is the hype gun owners are always preaching about, I do not believe guns make the average citizen of this country feel safer... There are about one third of the people in this country that own guns, that makes two thirds that do not own guns... I do not believe we as a country "feel safer" because of gun ownership and the crime/murder rate in this country that is chocked full of guns seems to bear that out.... An individual that has access to a firearm might feel more secure whether or not he/she actually is....

Sheeple. I hope you never need a weapon, because you will WISH you had it.

    DEAD people cannot defend themselves.

You are correct for maybe the first time Mr. Fisher but I see your argument ran out of air and you had to resort to insults as the right wing seems to always revert to...
