Lifting my jeep

Does anyone on here know anyone in the Louisville area who knows how to lift a 2001 jeep cherokee and has experience doing it? I feel confident doing it myself but mom doesn't feel the same way Which basically means more money I have to put into it. Any help is appreciated! Thanks, drew

Jeeps are not difficult top lift but consider the driving that you will be doing the most of. Auto Manufacturers pay automotive engineers alot of money to figure out the proper height, size tires , and other specifications for the best performance of the vehicle. Changing one aspect such as height can change others that can reduce performance and safety. Jeeps are top heavy and are prone to flip.

Only lifting 3 inches. I talked to a guy who does lifts for a living and says 3inches will not affect how unstable it is.

Even 3" changes the center of gravity, but unless you're going to fly around a curve at 90mph you'll be fine. Many, many, many Jeep Wranglers and Cherokees out there with lifts on them, different springs, bigger wheels and tires.

Jeeps are pretty easy to lift.

Get bigger sized tired and make sure they will fit inside the wheel wells. You want to get the axle up off the ground not just the car. Lifting the top of the car won't help with ground clearance will it? The axle will still bottom out unless you get it higher off the ground. And remember that Jeeps are already top heavy and unstable so if you do get it higher up it will be even more unstable and will tip over or roll over even faster.

What you really want is a Range Rover.

Lifting a Jeep is about as a American as baseball and apple pie. Nobody lifts a Jeep without putting bigger wheels and tires on it. Putting a 3" (small) lift on a Jeep and throwing some new rubber on it aint no thing to fret over.

I had countless friends with rigs like that when I was in high school and college. None of them died.

If it were my decision I'd do around 5inches. And I think that it really wouldn't be that hard. I've watched about a million videos on YouTube of guys doing them.
