Look this is construction work, we start them at 9.50 per hour green as a gourd. If experienced much more than that. I have a good fellow here that I think the world of, he is a Caucasian male and can barely read and write. He can however drive a forklift very well and call out a piece of lumber from 50 feet away amongst other skills mechanically that help me greatly. He has been here many years and makes around 34 to 38 a year counting his overtime...does that sound like he's being abused to you.

Guess what Union man he worked to get there and didn't **** on the Guvment tit. I have respect for the man and I will go to bat for him anyday and he would run through fire if I asked him to. It didn't take a Union to build that relationship, it took time honered hard work and dedication.

Anything that requires a lot of paper for administration HR stuff like Health Insurance changes, retirement materials, life insurance policies I help him with secretly so he won't be embarrased in front of the guys.

No sir it does not, I suspect he does not have to feed his family with food stamps, ask the 9.50 guy how many kids he has and how many food stamps he has to have to do feed them... How much of that wage did he acquire during the many many years he has been with the company, I suspect a good bit of that came when unions were stronger and your company had to pay a better scale to keep employees... If your company has many folks working there for less than 13 dollars an hour it is part of the problem and not part of the solution.. If it pays above food stamp wages to employees that have been there 3 or 4 years then it is part of the solution..

    I'm so sorry for you

You're quick with the name calling hall. But thats OK, YOU support me. You get up every AM and work to supply my indolent life style. thanks! I retired at age 58, havn't hit a lick since. Why should I ? I have a great support group that pays MY social security bennies. I had schrewed managers who invested in the right annuities to keep my small [but free] pension delivered to my bank every month.but I did recieve bad news that I will no longer be eligible for one of dividend checks.Geee I may need to fall back on my VA benefits[that i'm ENTITLED to]. So that gets your "tidy whities" in a knot because I'm just sitting around gaming the system. Tuff schmidt! But keep up the good WORK, I might need a food hand pout some day.

    Mr Hlleaonard

I try to stay out of these political discussions because facts will never change your mind, and the lies you believe will never change mine. However I do have a few questions to some of your beliefs. You seem to want to blame everything that is wrong with America on Ronald Reagan.....Do you remember the shape the US was in when he was elected President thanks to the worst President we have had until this sham of a leader we have now?? Interest rates on home loans were in the 16-17% range for most people, gasoline was being rationed and we had hostages being held in Iran were a few of the highlights....Who was that President and what political party did he represent?? Jimmy Carter ring a bell?

The second problem I have with most of your posts is NEVER at anytime do you take into account that we are still (for now anyway) a free country. Most people can't support a family on $10 an hour, but guess what, they shouldn't be trying to!! If they have worked for McDonalds for 15 years that's their own fault, not the fault of the business!! If a union job like yours is the answer for them they are free to try to go that route. You see I believe that a good portion of society has bought the bill of goods that you have from the party you support. Liberals encourage a "victim" mentality and you are obviously all in!! I firmly believe we as a country have a culture problem with too many people such as yourself thinking EVERYONE is entitled to free EVERYTHING and $30 an hour just because they are breathing....We don't have a jobs problem or a wage problem, We have a lack of people willing to work problem!!

And I know you will never understand BUT here it is anyway.... CEO'S and big business aren't the problems, BIG GOVERNMENT is the real problem

If you can't cut it somebody else will... In our little town there must be 4 or 5 businesses mowing yards, here mostly they pay school kids to help them and I don't have a problem with that, school kids aren't having to provide a home and support for a family... I'm sure 1 or 2 businesses can provide those services and be in better shape to pay a better wage if they needed full time employees...
So in this example Mr Hlleonard would be in favor of big business with A CEO running the company probably making millions putting the locally owned small business members of the community on the street?? Seems pretty hypocritical, BUT not surprised

Lets talk about free cell phones, free insurance, and free college education.. Great but people like my wife and I who save for college since are girls are weeks old so we can put them thru school later in life will now have to pay yet another tax to help out some person who does not think ahead or want to sacrifice.

I should just go buy rims for the boat trailer and be done with it. Somebody else will pay for my kids college.

    good thread

You started a good dialog, I'm not going to change ypour conservative outlook, and you wont change mine. But at least we can call each other names, even though the names we would like to call each other, would be deleted, and some of us evicted from the site.
