Got checked Saturday on the big c by the nicest most courteous water patrol. He could see the life jackets and asked for licenses, my buddy hadn't filled his out but he said that didn't matter as long as he had one. He did check fire extinguisher and didn't even want to see in the live well. When he pulled away we talked about how friendly he was and enjoyed the encounter. He even gave us a fishing report of some large schools of stripers he had seen earlier.

Same thing happened to us on Green the Sunday before last except by a CO. He motored up to us slow and easy and was very careful to not bump our boat. He was very nice and polite and even said sir and ma'am to us. Checked our license and asked if we'd caught any fish which was a no at the time. I offered to open the live wells but he said he believed us and that would not be necessary. He said he had not checked anyone that had caught a bass so far. Jackets were laying on the seats so he didn't ask. Did not mention a fire extinguisher either but I did see him glance at the sticker. After he left I switched from a crankbait to dbl willow chartreuse spinner and boated a nice one less than 5 minutes later.
