    too many commercials everywhere

I'm getting tired of commercials. It use to be that they were just on TV but now anytime I try to watch a video on a web site it seems like I have to watch a stupid commercial video first. And to see the next article I have to watch another commercial. I use to just turn the volume down or mute it or pause the video and just read the article. But now they are making scripts that prevent the commercial video from being paused and something I can't even turn the volume down in the video player. I have to turn my speakers off. But I still have to watch the stupid commercial. I'm getting to the point where I just click off the web page and go to another web site. But these days all the major news web sites are running way too many commercials. This is very annoying. I'm tempted to send emails to them but I know it won't do any good and would be a waste of time. Just needed to vent.

    Agree

That is the main reason I don't watch very much football anymore. My car radio is set to NPR, and I subscribe to Netflix. The news is internet. It's a shame when you pay for cable or satellite, and are still forced to watch peddlers pushing their wares.

I don't care for them on the you tube channels I subscribe to but it's usually a 5 second wait to skip the ads. Necessary evil that's for sure.
I DVR a lot of the shows I like to watch so I can zip through the commercials. I'm so spoiled now!!! Hahahaha

nothing like the DVR, it cuts a 2 hour movie in half, or close I've really never timed it, but skipping the ads sure speeds it up for sure.

I'm a Prime member for sure because I shop Amazon and see the movies as a bonus.

Now Netflix is a different thing for me. I subscribe for a few months watch all the shows that they added and then unsubscribe. Before long they toss free junk at you to return.

When I first opened up the box I didn't know that there were TWO DVDs inside. I picked the one with the extra bonus material and could not figure out why the movie was not there. It was my first time trying to play a DVD on my new Notebook Computer's DVD player and I was not familiar with the DVD Movie Software so that sort of threw me off for a while. I finally figured out that the other DVD was in the Box on the other side of a flap inside the box. Once I got that figured out I just put the DVD in my regular DVD player that's connected to my TV. I know how that works and was able to watch the movie in PEACE with no commercials. Man I wish I could do that all the time.

I'm not up to date using the new technology or things like Netflex. I guess that's how it's going to be.

And yes even U Tube now makes you watch a commercial before you can see the Video that you want. But on U Tube you can skip the commercial after 10 second or so. Not so on some of the web sites I frequent. My local news paper use to be free to read online but not they want to charge a subscription and make you identify yourself before you can read the paper online or make comments on the articles. And now they start a video automatically as I'm trying to read a few of the articles that are still free. See they didn't get as many Clicks when they went to the subscription as a lot of people just stopped going there so now they put a few articles on their web site that one can read without a subscription in order to entice a few more ClICKS on their web site. Now about 2/3 of the articles are locked and can't be read or commented on without a subscription. Sneaky little men they are. But the stupid movie player starts up without even clicking on the start button and that's what bugs me the most. I have to search (scroll) around on the page to figure out where the movie is playing and then I find that they lock it so you can't pause it or turn it off until the commercial is over. I've got some choice words for those guys that program a web page that way but I can't say them in here.

Thank god there are other local media outlets that don't pull that stuff on their web site.

And for all you folks that have Time Warner, and have the silver controller, there are seom "magic" codes that you can setup to jump 30 seconds forward and 15 seconds back..........so with those, you can generally jump the necessary number of times, and jump to the exact start of the next movie segment.

    It works AWESOME.

That sounds great. Are these cheat codes on a website or will they tell you if you call?

I think amazom prime is a great deal. Seems free to me because I buy a lot of fishin stuff from them and it's free shipping. 50 1/0 hooks just came in today. Amazon music is also included. Pretty big library. I have read that they have never made a profit unless you count Bezo's self concocted accounting method. Who knows. I am sure everybody there is paid well.

I have Dish network, but it works about the same, it has a skip button, goes back so far with ever click and forward as well. works great if a bathroom break is needed.

Youtube has been a problem for me. First the ad at the begining but then on videos longer than 10 minutes theres another ad about midway through. Really aggravating.
