    Crappie ....

Don't know if this will be any help, but when I was there last weekend ... males were scattered in shallow water & most females were suspended at around 15ft deep over 30+ ft of water. At least they were around the Holmes Bend area !! Most were catching their fish trolling cranks out over the channel or channel edge. Water was pretty clear and ranged from 67-71deg.

I caught males in 6fow trolling one pole w/Roadrunner (marabou) ... females were caught pushing jigs over the deep water (1/2oz weights @ about 1mph with about 60ft of line out. Crank pullers were letting out about 75ft of line (no weight).

All females caught were heavy with eggs, and the condition of the egg sac was soft to mushy (so they're ready to go) ... but I have no idea why they were still out so deep over deep water. That was quite puzzling, considering the conditions.

What this cold, rainy deal has done to them .... I dunno. But the lake is up 1.5ft from where it was last weekend, and they are pulling it @ over 3000cfps (as of today, per the COE website chart : http://lrl-apps.lrl.usace.army.mil/w.../lkreport.html

Don't know anything about the Bass ... but did see several boats slinging creature baits & spinnerbaits on shallow banks.

Good question !! I really don't know. I would assume that they "could" spawn still, since the weather has probably cooled off the water ... or they could spawn a little deeper than normal, if the water stays as clear as it was when I was there last. I just don't fish Green often enough to know their pattern. It's even possible that many had already spawned, and this was yet another wave of fish waiting for their specific conditions.
