    Truth

Today, if you ask, “What is truth?” you will get many answers. The concept of truth is not a popular subject today. To some truth is subjective, the individual world of preference and opinion. Others believe truth is a collective judgment, the product of cultural consensus. Others deny the concept of truth altogether. The opposite of truth is untruth, lies and deceit. The truth can be hidden for long periods of time, and secrets may be taken to the grave, but be assured, God knows. Lies and deceit are like termites in your walls; you do not see the damage until it is too late. Usually, with a little time, lies and deceit start to smell of putrescence. An example would be the truth in relation to the origin of the coronavirus.

Misinformation and disinformation today is a tactic used by authoritarians in an attempt to control the flow of information so they can control the populace. Today, extreme politicians are married to social media to spread untruths. In a democracy, truth is essential, but hard to differentiate and protect. The Christian view is no longer the predominant view in the world today. Feelings, not facts, have become the nation’s moral compass. Untruths are disguised as popular ideologies. Knowledge, wisdom and vigilance are needed to recognize deceit. Knowledge, truth and behavior should be in agreement.

In the Book of John we find what is truth. In John 18:37-38 it reads, “You are a king then?” Pilate asked. “You say that I’m a king”, Jesus replied. “I was born for this, and I have come into the world for this: to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.” “What is truth?” said Pilate. Obviously, Pilate did not know the truth. Pilate had never chosen to investigate the truth. In John 14:6 it reads, “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

Biblically, truth is that which is consistent with the mind, will, character, glory and the being of God …the self-expression of God. God is the God of truth. The Word of God is truth. God is the final judge of all truth. Truth is also the way things are in reality. Truth is independent of belief. Belief is only as good as the object in which we put our trust. God reveals basic truth about Himself in nature … “The heavens declare His glory” (Psalm 19:1). God’s wisdom, power and beauty are on constant display in what He has created (Romans 1:20). The knowledge of God is inborn in the human heart (Romans 1:19). The moral character and loftiness of God’s law is implicit in every human conscience (Romans 2:15). God is the source of all truth. No one can define truth without reference to God. Truth is therefore a moral issue for everyone.

In Romans 1:21-22 it reads, “Although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools.” Three cords and the truth is all that is needed for a song for a joyful heart. Today, as a nation, we desperately need truth.

Unfortunately, a lot of untruths today are also being disguised as Christian positions as well. Our commitment to truth has suffered as we've officiated over an unholy wedding of our faith to politics, particularly.

I think it's important for us Christians to recognize that. The world is going to be the world. I'm a lot more concerned about the floor joists rotting out than the storm that might be outside.

Misinformation is used by Church and GOP News

Misinformation and disinformation today is a tactic used by religious zealots and preachers in an attempt to control the flow of information so they can control the populace. This is why the Roman Empire took up Christianity. He saw that he could use the church to control the people.

I'm not interested in defending Rome, but I'd be curious what primary source you use to so boldly assert as fact that Constantine's conversion was based on power dynamics and not genuine.

Well, if you're going to state as fact that a certain person did a certain something because of X, you need a LOT more proof. What you gave isn't any proof at all.

I don't need proof as anyone can see what goes on.

It's so obvious as the tip of your nose. How many people have you heard telling you that you are going to go to he(( if you don't do this or that. And talking about proof. Show us proof that there is a he)). Even better show me proof that there is a GOD or that Jesus walked on water. It's a nice fairy tale story used to try to control the minds of the people.

It will take you a while to come up with any proof of the existence of Heaven or He)). I won't be holding my breath, that is for sure.

It's probably wise for you not to hold your breath, you're going to need all the lung capacity you have if you keep moving those goalposts around.

Admit it that you have no proof that there is a heaven or a he((. It's a hoax.

I've got no time for pointless theological debates, man. All I did was ask you what the basis was for your statement that Rome's adoption of Christianity was for societal control. You've shown there was no basis for that statement, only your anti-religious biases, so there's really nothing to discuss.

If you have no time then why should I give you my time? You tell me why we have Religion. Take your time. I'm in no hurry.

I told you my Opinion. You can like it or not. Don't matter to me. To me, it's a waste of time studying religion and trying to make sense of it. People spend a lifetime trying to figure out what some old Jewish men wrote on scrolls 2000 years ago which later was cherry-picked to become our bible. You do know that all the scrolls were not included in the bible even back 2000 years ago.

How many times have you heard that someone was banished because they were a nonbeliever? And how many times have you hears someone tell someone else that they will go to he)) if they don't do this or that.

Absolute truth (pun intended). All one has to do is look at Donald J Trump and the Christian rights embrace of a man that has always lacked any semblance of what most would consider Christian values..... A man that much more closely checks all the boxes of the deadly sins than that of what one would call a good Christian man.

I'm all about forgiving and believe that people can change, but if anyone thinks Trump "changed" for any other reasons than for political gain, then I have some sea front property here in KY that I would like to sell you. I mean all you ever here is that all politicians lie but when it came to Trump, it was always the truth being spoken.

Anyway, Bone it's pretty funny that you now find yourself concerned with the "truth" after what went on for four plus years. Let me know when Biden gets anywhere near the level of lying of Trump and then we can have a serious talk. See below.

In four years, President Trump made 30,573 false or misleading claims.
