Well the boys and the wife decided I needed some time on the water to relax and ease some of my crankyness. So we all loaded up the boat and headed for T-Ville yesterday evening. Got out to the lake and started fishing, and the wife states that *** I've*** forgot her book that she wanted to read while the boys and I were fishing. So after fishing around in the small cove by the Settlers Trace ramp, I idle over to the Marina and see if I can purchase her some sort of lovey dovey book to read while the men fish.
The guy at the Marina, says were in luck he was getting ready to close at 7:00pm...Yep I said it right, 7:00pm EST..... I thought wow almost 2 1/2 more hours until dark and he's closing at 7:00 pm. This being the 3rd week of June and all the boat traffic at the lake and he's closing at 7:00 pm. Anyway, no books to be had, so I go ahead and buy the wife a fishing license for the year. The guy working the Marina, says that will be $ 20.00 cash money. I say I ain't got $ 20.00 cash on me...My wife asks don't you take a debit or credit card? The guy says why yes we do, but would prefer cash when someone buys a license. Cause they make $.50 cents for each license they sell and the credit card Companies charge them $ .50 cents for each credit card purchase. So he didn't make any money for the sale of the License. I say sorry bout that and he accepts my card for payment for the license.
Now to the fishing report... We motor over to one of my favorite spots and start fishing.... The wife is throwing her favorite crank bait....Shad Rap RC5 and catches a nice 8 7/8's" crappie...She's so excited...starts stating that it took Momma to show the men how to fish and catch a fish.... But that was it for her for the day, the bugs started coming out real heavy and she don't like the bugs so she sits down in the boat and just watches us fish.
We figure out that the Bass aren't going to corporate with us and we start just fun fishing with a Agilia in-line spinner....The warmouth, Sunfish and bluegill are tearing this bait up. It's another one of my oldest son's favorites. Anyway my wife gets excited as each fish is caught, stating that she still has the biggest fish for the day and she is Queen...If you all can figure out by now that she wants to be the big dog for the day. We catch lots of nice small fish from a channel cat to small Bass on this same lure. Wind up putting 5 really nice hand size fat Bluegill in the live well to clean and I state that a few more nice ones and they'll be worth cleaning at the end of the fishing evening. By the way only my oldest son and I are using the Agilia in-line spinner to fish with.
My youngest son who has been swimming in the lake beside the boat, decides that it's time he wants to start fishing. He takes my wife's pole and starts using her shad rap...He states that it's not quantity he's after, but quality....With the wife still getting excited as each fish is caught and released or comes off on the way to the boat. Her rubbing it in about her ( BIG ) fish of the day is still tops and not letting us men forget it..... Saying it took a woman to show us guys how to catch the big ones...so on and so on....
As the evening was getting closer, the air started getting chilly to her, and after covering up in a large beach towel, she asks me how long I planned to fish? I look at her and state that since I hadn't been in such a (long) time I was thinking about staying out till around 10 or 11 pm...Her jaw dropped big time and she asks me honey, you know I don't like to be on the water after dark...I say why honey, you know your safe, besides you know we got a larger fish to catch in order to pass yours up. She says she don't care about the size of the fish, she just wants off the water before dark.
But to come to a close, my youngest son finally hooks into a nice fish on the shad rap and the wife is hollering at him not to get excited, not to rush, asks if she needs to help him with the fish....All the while knowing her big fish of the day is now in jeopardy of being passed. But as my son lands the fish, bringing it up over the side of the boat and right over her head....the screams commence from her lungs....she freaks about the size of the drum my son has now landed and brought over her head and body dripping water on her..... (Had to have been there to see the ordeal) But she's oooing and awing at the fish and how ugly it is....After my youngest pops off with * Ha momma who's got the biggest fish now....She plainly states well *** Well who caught the 1st. fish *** nuff said and the men realize that momma just ain't going to be out done on this fishing trip.... We load up the boat and after being out on the water for 3 hours we all state that it was nice having a little family time out together...
Hope I haven't bored you all with my small adventure, but I just wanted to share my evening with you all, since they're getting further and further apart with my bad back and all.... Have a nice day now ya hear.....![]()
Cool report, ain't it fun sometimes.
sounds like it was a great time. its not always the fish that makes the trip a good one.
Now this report right here is GREAT in my opinion! Nothing but good clean fun! Although I'm trying to figure out whats up with the Marina closing two hours before sundown? What is up with that?
Analysis of report:
Mistake numer one: Took the wife
Mistake number two: See mistake number one!!!
You know Chub I quit trying to figure out how that fella runs that place up there a long time ago. Down right weird in my opinion. I went in there one day and asked if he had a fish scale that we could weigh a fish on. He laughed at me and said and I quote, ''We don't have anything like that in here'', unquote. I mean parden me for thinking a MARINA MIGHT HAVE A PLACE TO WEIGH FISH, LOL. This and many others are just some of the reasons I would rather shove toothpicks under my eyeball lids than to fish that mudhole.
My wife and I have been married for 10 years and the first time we went together was at her Dad's pond shortly after we were married. She was "Bobber Fishing" her way with worms for anything that bit, not "Bobber Fishing" my way which is FNF at Dale Hollow, and she had caught 5 real nice had size bluegills, that is my 4 year old Son's hand size mind you. These 5 together did not measure 15" long in total length. I landed my second real nice Largemouth about a 3 1/2 pounder on a plastic worm and thought I would rub it in a bit in the fact that I had 2 good keeper Greencarp to her 5 tiny gils but she put me in my place. She said what do you mean you are winning, I am winning 5-2. I said you are actually going to count those fish you caught and she said "They had 2 eyes and swam in the water didn't they". Which by her scoring system she is correct in that she was winning 5-2. I have had to use "Her" scoring system from the back of the boat in Chunknwinds boat a time or two and probably will again, sooner than later hopefully.
Everything in the 'Ville closes 2 hours before sundown, except for BP in Elk Creek.....
I plan on fishing there sun. in a USABassin tournament any clues on where too fish?I've never been there so i need all the help i can get.thanks![]()
