The top water bite is hot right now, from about 2 1/2 hours before sun set until dark. The wife and I went last night, mainly catfishing. While we were getting bait we kept seen the stripers jump out of the discharge area so we started throwing top water plugs, had hook ups on the first three cast. Most of them were 3-8 pounds. They were catching them with big swim baits also. They were pulling them in off of the bank too. Standing on the big rocks and throwing for the first gate. Get there early there were about ten or so people fishing from the bank. Good luck and have fun if any of you are going. (Beware the rocks are slippery) Chris

I was throwing a Strike King Spit-N-King in the shad color. Im taking some salt water plugs with me next time. Creek Chub's Striper Strike, and some Offshore Angler's pencil poppers. If you get on bass pro shop web page under salt water lures they are under hardbaits and surf. With the bigger poppers you would have no problem reaching out there from the bank.
Good luck and let us know how you do.

How do I get to Chanelton from No. Ky and where can I put in at. Seems like a great place to fish. Thanks
Nice report Chris, Thanks.
Thanks Big Cat, for the info, could not make it this weekend but will try next, hope to have my boat back up soon. Also nice blues.
Yes Northern KY, I would be coming from the Newport/Covington area. Thanks again
Try Meldahl dam. I catch stripers up there all the time, up to 12 lbs. Just take Rt 8 past Foster, dam is on the left. Good access there. Fish the sand beach below the dam with shallow cb, topwater spooks, or jerkbaits, flukes and hold on. Fish early 5:30 am or late evening 8:30 till dark. You will catch some big drum, sauger and smallmouth too.
