30 counties to bail out the rest!

If the majority of KY counties is dry, shouldn't that say something? I mean as a whole these dry counties seemed to know what is important to them, and beer doesn't seem high on the list. You can't expect for them to make all counties wet, not even realistic.

i bet you wouldnt be saying the same thing if your pay got cut in half to do the same job.... this is how people make a living either make a 12 an hour with the right to work law or 24 an hour with scale and prevailing wage.. i am sorry but i want more money to pay the bills with and have more disposable income... i am not the one that is wrong you are for thinking that its ok to pay someone less money to do the same job...... because i have worked construction most my life and i love knocking down 1000 dollars in 4 days versus working 5 or 6 adn brinign home 450 or 500 i am sorry but thats how i feel....

Sorry Ryan, but if you want to generate more income, you DON'T do it by JACKING up the costs of your product.

If you want more money, you have to make yourself more valuable to your company, or take on a second job, or obtain some additional skills.

I'm in a professional environment, without a union. My company has a TON of foreign workers, mostly Indian, and we're getting more every day. For the time being I'm safe. Mostly because I have put myself into a situation where I'm needed MORE than pretty much everyone else in my department. THAT is HOW IT IS DONE...........when I'm no longer needed, they will can my butt, and I will find a better paying one.

I started life as a delivery boy, delivering pizza 25 years ago. THAT was a HORRIBLE JOB, and I had no future....from there, I changed my college major to something WORTH a CRAP, studied my butt off........Went 50K in debt to pay for my college, and entered a professional career.

I continue my education EVERY DAY........I learn skills with my job, outside of my job, HOW my job interfaces with the business community, and stuff that is NOT my JOB.

My company has had 14 RIF's Reduction IN FORCE layoff's in the 20 years I've been here, and I've NEVER been on the list. It has nothing to do with seniority.........it has EVERYTHING to do with the fact the place would go to hell in a handbasket, if I was canned.

UNIONS ****...........they drain money from everyone, and leach on EVERY corporation and their employees. Prevailing WAGES...........they also ****. Pay what the market is WILLING to pay.......not WHAT someone tells me I have to pay.

If you're in a dead end job, and cannot better yourself......remember YOU put YOURSELF there.

I'm sorry if this sounds harsh.......it IS......

Government has NO BUSINESS setting wages.

Hey Ryan, these people arguing against the right to work law and the unions are just your typical republicans. They for the most part are very selfish and greedy and don't feel like guys out busting their butts to build America in very dangerous situations and heights deserve a decent living for thier family. Most construction owners around these parts would rather pay a guy 8 to 10 dollars an hour and reep the beneifits of the profits made. Thats why Unions were organized so the hard working men and women get the money that they deserve. Yeah the price is high for a union to come in and do a job, but you can't really put a price on a mans life. I am in union and have been on several dangerous jobs, some unimaginable! As for the guy who said that unions is whats wrong with this country, well he lives in a union! The USA! I dont feel that the unions broke the state, or the nation, I feel it is all the corupt spending and bonuses by the politicans DEMS and REPS, and the price of OIL! Thats what put this nation under! To sum it up I just feel like a man deserves a decent living

WHAT........the MONEY you can make is the MONEY you DESERVE.......if you're not making enough..........find a different JOB. If you think you're being screwed by the MAN.......become your OWN MAN, and go out and form your OWN COMPANY......I mean, get real. You are WORTH what someone is willing to pay.....PERIOD. When government comes in and artifically inflates what you're WORTH, prices go up.

I'm worth MORE than any of my co workers, because I'm in a POSITION to demand more.....WHEN I'm not in that position........I will be out on my BUTT, but while I'm in it..........I will DEMAND MORE.........

As I told Ryan...........obtain more education, learn a different skill. TURN the TABLES on the BOSS, and become the BOSS.

Then they get none of the alcohol tax money. It is as simple as that! They do not want it in their county, but you can bet they will LOVE the tax money generated by counties that do.

No, what I am suggesting is that if x amount of dollars are generated on the alcohol tax, then only the counties were those tax dollars were generated get to see a return on that tax.

As an example, the county I live in is wet. When I go to by a 12 pack of my favorite beer, it cost me roughly $8. Tax on that would be 48 cents. That would be 48 cents that would not be allowed to go to a dry county to be spent on raods, infrastructure or any other county projects. It would have to go to a county that allows alcohol sales.

lets see this has nothing to do with nyc or anywheres close... unless u are jealous cause u dont make that prevailing wage then there shouldnt be no problems... the people that make the prevailing wage are very experienceed adn know what they are doing thats just like telling someone that works in a big highrise for an insurance company they make to much...that is just wrong to tell someone they make to much.... especially a construction worker... someone who has to brave the elements and work outside in a ditch and do hazardous work on the road while u fly by at 80 mph in your mercedes cause u are late to get a manicure... give me a break man..... unless u have worked construction and know what we have to do and i aint talking about building a house i am talking heavy construction.... standing on a 24 inch wide platform 40 foot high while a crane operator swings a 2 ton bucket of concrete over your head so u can pour it in the wall... and it either 100 degrees or 0 and the wind is blowing the crane and its wobbly.... u know that governor fletcher tried to do get rid of prevailing wage and thousands came and protested it......that is taking food from someones table...

I thought that you went to collage? Did you need a 4 year degree to work in heavy construction? I would think a good trade school would have taught you want you would have needed to know. If you work in heavy construction, congradulations, it is a much needed profession. Since our new President is going to be building so many new roads, bridges, schools, ect. You should have no problem getting one of these $24 an hour jobs. I will even bet that you will make more than $24. But if you want to make the real big money, look over seas. I have seen where people in your profession can make $100k a year over in Dubi, and the United Arab Emeraites. (forgive the spelling). They have the most money and a desperated for people of your abilities. The point I was tring to make was, you make more depending on where you live and work. Unions had a place at one time. But I think they hurt more (now) than they help.

What the h... does this have to do with being a republican. I would consider it a conservative to be wise with my money, your money or a compaines money. And what does a union have to do with a qualifed worker? All I have seen from unions is members money being spent on trying to get more members no matter what. If I was a high rise steel worker and lived in Kentucky making $15 an hour, and I could move to Washington and make $30, I would look into the cost of living in Washington and if it made sense, I would move. The living wage is a pipe dream, I know this sounds harsh but it is a fact of life. The american dream is to work hard, get a good education, take responsibility for yourself, and you will succeed.

Excuse me i have a college degree... I have a degree in Criminal Justice from Eastern Kentucky University.. I worked heavy construction to pay my way thru college and i love being outside and working outside... i would work for several months at a time so that when i was in school i didnt have to work but a part time job and for 2 or three semesters i worked construction full time and went to school of the evenings so i could be able to still get out and hunt and fish on the weekends and have the money to do it..... so yes i do have a college degree and no i dont want to go overseas and i am actually in the hiring process for a conservation officer so unless u have anything else to say bub i think this conversation about me is over with.....

You have CHOSEN your employment path. I don't see why you're getting upset when someone points out that instead of GRIPING about prevailing wages, you don't move onto another line of work.

I LOVE the fact that you're going to become a conservation officer.......a GREAT line of work......but what happens when you TOP out there......it is a FACT of life they really don't make great smack.

I hope it all works our for you.........and like I said, I commend your plans to become a conservation officer.

In case you were grouping me into that typical Republican thing your wrong. I'm a Conservative but registered as a Independant. You being in a Union naturally makes you have those views but I don't believe your being fair throwing out bombs like putting a price on a mans life. Who could do that? I guess the Unions have done that for you huh? What's your life worth then? So by that criteria our soldiers who put their lives on the line should be making Millions?

Unions are good? Tell that to the Millions of people who have watched the UAW drive the wages to stupid levels. Earning a decent living is important for workers but running a business and making profits is also the goal and right of the owner. Some Unions push and muscle their way into business' where they don't belong and can ruin it as well.

I agree with you a man deserves a decent living but I feel he should earn it. I don't see how a company or industry being held hostage by a Union is good for anyone but the Union talking heads. I guess not being in a Union gives me a different view.

i am not griping about wanting to make more money at all i was aggrivated about what geobass said about just get rid of prevailing wage cause its a drain and this and that..... i want to make as much money as i can and i know conservation officer pay isnt the best but i will be doing something i have a deep passion for and i will be able to be happy and enjoy working..... there is a big difference than crunching numbers or driving stakes... or u could be cruising up and down the lake checking licenses or talking to a class full of kids that maybe didnt have the opportunities to learn about the outdoors like i did.... but i aint griping about money i just dont like the thought of having a right to work law and u get paid what they think u should get paid....
