that is true, but it does not bother me becouse you know what it is doing, pluse if you are paralleling a bank you can read what is in front of you. and if you turn a little it will bump a bit but pics right back up. it may bother some people but it dont me. plus with it in the front you can see what is around the boat in stead of what is on the back of the boat on. just my prefrence it works good for me. all i can tell you is try it out and see if you like it or not but i do like it alot like that. hope this helps.
thanks

You can use the standard sonar for that, however, the way Side Imaging is scanning the bottom, the majority of suspended fish shown will be in a center water collumn readout, but will not show how far to the right or left. If you were to pair up you're sonar and side imaging on split screen, you could be a little more accurate with your estimate of where fish are suspended. It's hard to explain on here, but your more than welcome to come check out our displays and fire some questions at us at Bass Pro. PM me if you need further assistance.
Thanks! Yeah, I know using the side view is difficult for figuring depth. You have to try to visually caculate the length of the shadow and such. Knowing where to go (left or right) seems more what it could be used for, then when you get there check the sonar. I've been studying up on it but I may take you up on the offer and come by for a first hand demo. My fear is I'll end up walk out with one..
