Saw on Ky Afield a few weeks ago that they were fishing right under or pretty close to one of the dams on the Ohio River. My question is, what are the rules for dams? I know on the KY river they have been writing tickets for being under them. Why is it OK on the Ohio and not the KY River?
Anyone know?

Markland has the "red-line rule" where the lock wall is marked with a red-line and you have to visually trace it to the IN shoreline and can't be closer than that (150 feet). The wardens don't hesitate to write tickets and I think they're expensive fines.
Next to the blow-out holes (where they discharge the water in the locks) there is a sign that says to stay back 300 feet but I've never seen or heard of anyone getting a ticket for fishing on top of them. Be **** careful not to be over there in especially a small boat when they do discharge or you could end up in trouble real fast. You gotta know where it's safe to throw anchor.
I was at Meldahl last weekend (bank fishing) but saw what looked to me like warning buoys at the end of the locks and never saw a single boat beyond that point.I have been on other rivers and saw a man and his young son get in serious trouble by getting too close to a release gate,we called in to help get them rescued. The son managed to climb onto a ledge of the dam and the man was hanging on for dear life to his boat which was he lost anyway.Wasn't a pretty sight.
Please excuse me,but I have to say this: Do you have anymore Dam questions?

after reading this today i decieded to go up there had not been there in 5 or 6 years fishing so i put on 5 popeyes for my 7 year old to keep him busy with the skipjacks and promised him he would catch 2 or 3 or more at a time well the little camper come home mad after not catching anything i could not get a bite on anything either but did notic there was 2 boat one came all the way up to the wall but i dont think they cared anyhow since it was happy hour for them and the other boat came with in about 3 or 400 feet
this brings me to ask when do the skippys start hitting me and my dad use to go there all the time i do know the we would sain crawdads around his b day witch is today and the after that we would switch over to skippys i though today u could catch them anytime but i guessed wrong i would like to put my boy on them so he could catch a few at a time
The jacks move out mid-June (usually). Spring rains and other factors determine there whereabouts. Your best bet to have a blast with 12-22 inch jacks there on every cast is to fish during May and early June - they were there thick this spring. I know they hang around some dams in TN all summer long if generation is right but for some reason the big numbers usually move out of Markland early summer. The water has to be right too - if it's 20+ foot and muddy fishing is usually no good from the bank. You can usually catch good white bass numbers all summer but one thing I learned about the dam - when it's on it's on and when it's not it's not.after reading this today i decieded to go up there had not been there in 5 or 6 years fishing so i put on 5 popeyes for my 7 year old to keep him busy with the skipjacks and promised him he would catch 2 or 3 or more at a time well the little camper come home mad after not catching anything i could not get a bite on anything either but did notic there was 2 boat one came all the way up to the wall but i dont think they cared anyhow since it was happy hour for them and the other boat came with in about 3 or 400 feet

Speaking of the ky afield show, did tim ever say where they caught the crawfish? What's the most efficient way?
