Guy Carries AR-15 to Obama Protest......

Why would anyone think this guy did anything stupid. He did nothing illegal. Do you guys lock your gun safe and pretend you dont own a gun? In KY I can have my 357 mag on my side < loaded> while packing my AR-15 < loaded > down the street and the government cant do a dang thang about it. Why would anybody pretend otherwise? I thought you guys were republicans. You gonna say obama will take your weapons if you give a reason, or have I read your post wrong? I say kudos to that man and you should stand for what he did if you believe in the right to keep and bear arms, or keep and pretend you dont own one.

Call me stupid or whatever, but I don't even own a gun...I understand some of the lawsa but it sure seems weird that the guy would bring a dang assault rifle to one of those town hall meetings or any public even for that matter "just because he can". There's a lot of crazy people out there and judging from what I'm reading that's taking place at these town hall meetings it sounds to me like people are getting more and more crazier...it's kind of over the top to me actually. People can do all sorts of things "just because they can", but out of respect for others they usually do not.

Just remember that the people in North Korea,China,and many other communist,dictatorship countries don't own guns either.No country where the citizens were well armed has ever been overthrown as such either,and if you think our Govt couldn't or wouldn't do something like this then I'd have to say you are either too trusting or extremely naive.

Will some please give me a real definition of anassault rifle? I have never once seen a definition and I don't think one exist. I would hardly call a semi auto AR an assault rifle, but then I am not sure what an assault rifle is.

I am not sure what the "official" definition is, or even if there is an official definition, but my understanding is that an ASSULT RIFLE is one that was originally intended to be used by a military (foriegn or domestic) unit in an assult on that hill, postion, or PEOPLE, as opposed to a rifle used for hunting animals. Assult rifles are automatic or simi-automatic whereas hunting rifles are usually single shot rifles.

Grumpy, you would be surprised by the number of people that use an AR for varmint hunting. Most hunting rifles are semi auto or bolt action.

Tim, I don't douibt that a bit, I was just trying to explain the definitions. On the other hand, most military snipers prefer single action/shot rifles.

I'm not naive but I'm fairly trusting by nature...I guess I still believe in a hand shake and taking a man for his word until he gives me a reason not to. Anything government related doesn't surprise me anymore, which is really sad if you stop to think about it. I'm not against guns, I just don't happen to own one.
