    Wohoo..............I have my MSDN Technet version of Windows 7 up and running

    And BOYS and girls............it ROCKS.

    It will run on hardware that runs XP, is cleaner than Vista, and about as FAST as XP.

    This isn't a beta either...............MSDN RC Candidate of Windows 7.

    Anyone interested in it and how to get a LEGIT key FREE, let me know.

    Re: Wohoo..............I have my MSDN Technet version of Windows 7 up and running

    I've heard good things about it, but I've been looking for a viable way to get rid of Microsoft for a long time.

    I've installed Ubuntu Linux a couple of times in the past but it wasn't quite ready. They've made big improvements in it since my last attempt more than a year ago. Right now, I'm anxious to try the Google Chrome OS that's coming out next year (I already use the browser). If that doesn't pan out, it's back to Ubuntu.

    I will say that those two OS might suit my needs more than other people's because I basically stopped using software and storing my documents on my computer quite awhile ago. I haven't used a software-based email program for over 5 years. I basically do everything within an internet browser.

    Heck, since I got an iPhone I rarely even bother to turn on my home computer anymore.

    Rats! I just bought a pc that would actually run it (enjoyably, anyway) and now the download's not available. Oh well... 10/22 is right around the corner.

    Your machine........5 years ago would run it, and probably run it pretty dang good.

    I have a 2.8ghz single core with 2gb ram, and it runs it JUST fine.

    Now, my 3 ghz dual core with 6GB does a hell of a lot better..........but the first box runs 7, and would NOT run vista,

    I can't wait to get it. I like some aspects of Vista, but the downsides of it fare outweight those - it can really bog down a pc. I should have just stuck with xp - but I hear the 7 is a huge improvement.

    You will LOVE it............everything about 7 is better.

    * FASTER.
    * Better memory management.
    * Crash protection with protected "Virtual Machines"
    * Works GREAT on older "GOOD" hardware
    * Homegroups.......if you have more than 1 computer and fileshares.........WOW.
    * Lots of other stuff........
    * Gadgetbar takes 75% less resources.
    * Toolbar icons..........those PAINFUL ones on the right can be disabled with a click.

    That machine was more than 5 years old. It was a 1.6 Ghz Sempron with 1GB ram, running W2K Pro. Yeah, it met the minimum requirements for 7, but not by much.

    I made the full plunge to Ubuntu Linux a week ago. I did a complete install and wiped Microsoft off forever. It boots up in about 20 seconds.

    I LOVE linux.......I use Centos and SUSE mostly........

    BUT most everything I do I CANNOT do on linux..........BUT I still have a media server running Centos 5.1.

    Also, my Router at home is a LINUX based router, with multiple nic cards, serving up different SUBNETS....That way, I can keep my kids isolated from my network........

    EVERYONE is safe .
