    Honest input wanted

Maybe someone can answer this question. Why can't a person with three years experience, a masters degree in elementary education with a middle school math endorsement and a masters degree in special education get hired in Hardin , Jefferson, or Bullit counties after applying for over 150 jobs in those counties. Not even an interview! Do you have to be related to someone?

Tom have you tried the Oldham County system. With that pedigree I bet you can find work and probably get paid more than the school systems you just mentioned.

But to answer your original question............You got me????

You asked for an honest opinion! Heres mine, You had 3yrs trying to get tenure, it takes 4yrs for tenure. You got the pink slip after 3 so tenure could be avoided. I would try another school system because your name is not getting a good report in the current system. You asked for it and I gave an honest input. I dont want to hurt your feelings but thats my opinion. It may be they had a cut in your system so you need to apply to multiple systems.

You are completely wrong. White men are preferred, heck any man is preffered. I am married to a teacher and know a few things about the trade.

Hmmmm Wrong? I don't think so got a few teachers in my family myself and I'm talking from first hand knowledge. You know what helped my sister get hired? Claiming Asian since our Mother is Japanese.

You know what helped me get into the Orlando Fire Department Minority hire push program years ago? Claiming Asian since my Mother is Japanese....I was the only "white skinned" guy there out of several hundred. Unfortunately they canned the program since it was corrupt.

Thought you said being a good teacher was the main thing not minority status or gender? Which is it? Come on slipped your slippin'.

Are you applying only at public schools? Many PRIVATE schools are looking for good teachers and it's a far better educational system than public schools. Because of the economy, more public schools are consolidating which creates less jobs. Also "teaching to the test" has dumbed down the education in public schools in order to accomodate the slackers.

I would honestly recommend that you hand deliver your resume to the Superintendent of Education (or whatever title he goes by in your state). Ask him if he has the time to do an interview at that time and, if not, to please give you an appointment for him to conduct an interview. I know it seems to be a bit pushy, but it's not when YOUR career is at stake. The Superintendent's secretary will probably ask you a lot of worthless questions in order to screen his visitors so have some evasive answers ready for her. Sometimes you have to go to the "head of the spring" to get the best drink of water. Never mind that you probably should have been handing your resume to someone lower on the totem pole. You have already tried that and it didn't work.

My best wishes for your success. God bless.

Hey Slippedcork, did you THINK before you posted this reply? You said "white MEN are preferred, heck any man is preferred." Since you are married to a teacher, are you married to a man? I won't point out one other 'mistake' but you should get your in-house teacher to proof read your post because you are making him/her look bad.

FYI, teaching is a profession, not a trade.

His avatar leads me to believe he is a white man. Any man is preffered in the typical hiring process. Please point out the other mistake. If you think I let my wife(female) proofread everything I type on this computer you are mistaken. Teaching is a proffesion not a trade, thanks for the correction. Now go and cuddle your cat while I cuddle my wife.
