No, you didn't buy it out from under me, I called the guy and wanted to go look at it and then the wife's car needed some work so you know how that goes. I'd like to get a Hobie Revo for lake and ocean fishing if price wasn't an issue but I'll probably pick up an Ocean kayak or Tarpon if I can find one in my price range. There is a place in Cincy that puts old models and factory seconds on e-bay. They have some good starter models for cheap.

Huntingteacher-what kind of seat do you have in yours? I used to have the same problem, I'd have to take a muscle relaxer and half a pain pill before and after a trip. I bought a high dollar seat and do some stretching exercises and that fixed it. I also use a foam pad to sit on as well. It seemed like every time I sat in the kayak it pinched a nerve in my lower back.

I have a Hobie Pro Angler. I know that it looks like a battleship, but it is by far more agile than my old 12 foot ocean kayak, it really moves, and the seat is so dry and comfortable that you feel great after a full day's fishing.

Do you ever get stuck because of those paddles under the boat? WHat are they made of?

No, the paddles fold up almost flat against the boat in shallow water. The are made of a very resilient rubber composite and are tough as nails. The nice thing about the mirage drive is that it leaves your hands free to fish, especially in moving water.

    Thumbs up Re: Kayak Fishing

I looked at the Hobie; that is a cool Kayak. Too expensive for me. Also it was too big. I bought the Malibu Mini because it was only 9'3" and fits right into my Ranger.

All three of our kayaks are 10 ft, sit inside kayaks. I actually bought a sewing machine and made some cushions. Cammo ones!! Still sore after fishing for 8 hours. Next Kayak is going to be sit on top style. They are pricy though. Best river I've ever fished is the Clarion River in PA. Awesome!!!! Trout and smallmouth. Most beautiful place I've gone. PERFECT canoe/kayak river. We go every year. I take my basstracker off the trailor with the help of a front end loader on my father inlaw's tractor, and use the trailor for all of the kayaks, canoe, bikes, ect...
