Take it even further back...
At one time you couldn't look at your caller ID before picking up.
At one time you didn't have cell phones.
At one time you walked to your friends house and knocked on the door instead of texting.
Facebook is cool since it has put me in touch with friends from high school. I moved from that area many years ago so I lost touch. They used the search tools on facebook and found me. It's great to catch up with old friends.
I can remember the only time you could watch cartoons was on Saturday morning.
No call waiting. If you were on the phone more than 3-4 minutes at my house my Dad made sure you were getting off in case someone called with an emergency.
The nicest thing was the local evening news was on for only 30 minutes.

And we watched Presto the clown! followed by ultra man and then a Reds game, all on WDRB when it was an independent station.
Don't forget Speed Racer, Lost in Space, The Beverly Hillbillies, Andy Griffith.......................Awe the good ole days.
Hell I didn't wear shoes or a shirt unless my Mom made me. We had BB gun fights, if you owned a pump, no more than 5 pumps, but we cheated now and again. And of course no shooting above the chest, lol. Road our bikes till the tires fell off. Stayed out till dark a good piece from the house and wouldn't come in till they started yelling for us. Wouldn't take a bath either unless Mom made us, which she usually did.
Seems you have more to worry about with kids today than back in the day. Man those were some good times.
Kids today need a swift kick in the ass back into reality. I'm 32 years old and know my place in the family. If I were to try half of the s!!! the kids are doing today my mom/dad would have beat me senseless.
It's actually the parents who need the kick in the behind for letting them get away with that stuff.
I totally agree. I played ball last night and one of the little kids would not listen to what his mom was telling him. It was non stop...don't do that, what did I tell you, I'm only gonna say it one more time and so on and so on.
My version which some folks don't agree on...would have been I told you not to do that ***bam!***(butt smack) now sit down and behave unless you want more.BTW...I got plenty more!

Guys I agree but this liberal society has tied the hands of parents on corporal punishment. They have basically removed the father from the home completely. It's all about the kid and not hurting their witty feelings all the time. People who swat their out of line youngster in public now adays may get a knock on their door by sun down with a social worker and police escort. Don't laugh it's that bad. Had a maintenace man here at work have to leave work and basically go to the school and defend himself or they were going to call the police. It seems his young boy was asked, ''Does your Daddy or Mommy ever spank you''? His reply was sometimes when I'm real bad. The guy was treated like a frickin axe murderer....seriously. I agree with what you are saying but timeout and priveledge being taken away doesn't always work for every child. Like Ole Andy Griffith use to say, A good ole trip to the woodshed every now and again build's character.
Well this liberal bunch of pansy asses running the show today doesn't think so. Hell they don't even want to keep score in sporting events, so EVERYBODY can get a trophy, OH PLEASE!
And don't forget the greatest of all on Saturday mornings................channel 3 wrestling. Watching Jerry the King Lawler set people on fire never got old. But when Austin Idol and Tommy Rich crotched the King on the ringpost and then shaved his head I almost lost my mind...........I can remember the only time you could watch cartoons was on Saturday morning.

What about party lines with telephones? Would pick up the phone and somebody would already be on it. Pick it up 10 minutes later they'd still be on it. Pick it up after that with a "hey get the f off the phone already Aunt Mildred".
I'm only 34 years old.............
