Very Simple Question about Obama

Nobody is denied their right to prayer in school... you can pray anywhere you want at anytime... what is not allowed is for the school to have a mass prayer that puts people of other religions in an awkward position. Teachers and faculty are paid by the government and are therefore representatives of the government, and if they choose to force anyone to pray or sit and listen to others pray in any religious facet, they are violating a persons fredom of religion...

so as a christian with a brain i realize that i can and WILL pray wherever and whenever i want, but i cannot expect the country to cater to my religion and allow school wide prayers or teacher led devotionals... i as a Chrictian should take it upon myself to form the devotional group and worship God on my own... which public schools still allow...

as for the montana incident, please tell me the owners of teh house got lawyers involved....

This is the difference in Islam and TRUE peaceful religions... Just like teh Black community, the muslims feed on negative press and the politically orrect's sympathy. Any other religion that trully seeks peace would just move their site somewhere else to avoid the confrontation (you can worship just as good somewhere else)... but these Muslims love the controversy and will therefore puch to build it here. This in my opinion just proves that they are not as peaceful a religion as they claim to be...

In otherwords.. its legal for them to build there and nobody can stop them but themselves... this is where we find out just how much integrity they have...

You know the Muslims knew what kind of stir this would cause, and they choose to go ahead and apply to have the Mosque put there, why? because its a big slap in the face of America. They knew Osama, I mean Obama would approve it, the probaly talked about when he was visiting family over there. Do you think these same Muslims would of tried to build this Mosque when George Bust was President, I think he would of had that smirk on his face, and told the American people, let them try it!!! If these people had ANY RESPECT for the American people, they would of never ever even considered this, they know exactly what they are doing, and they are all laughing in our faces!!!

I would still like to know why and how the Muslims recevied permission to build their Mosque ON NEWLY ACQUIRED LAND when two Christian churches next to the World Trade Center that were destroyed on 9/11 still have not received permission to rebuild their churches ON LAND THEY HAVE OWNED FOR MANY YEARS, and for that matter, the owners of the land where the World Trade Center was still have not been approved for any new buidlings (this according to Fox News)!!! (How is that for a run on sentence?)

If the government is allowed to take prayer and Bible reading out of schools, how much longer will it be before they do the same at YOUR church and YOUR home? I have a friend in Montana who was in a home Bible study with six of her friends when the police came crashing in. The homeowner was arrested and charged with using her private residence as a church without proper zoning and license. Her neighbor called the police because he was atheist and didn't like the QUIET, PEACEFUL, BIBLE READING AND PRAYERS inside a private residence in his neighborhood.

Are you still in school? How long has it been since you were allowed to pray the Lord's prayer along with the rest of the class? Does your teacher still begin first period class with a daily devotional? How about The Pledge of Allegiance? Nobody has mentioned needing an audience and you can't screw this thing around to make it look like prayer was all for show. Those are traditions that were followed even back in the days when the church house was also the school house.

You do not speak for others when you say that you have never been denied your time in prayer. You are just ONE person with one voice.

Sweetie, you must be quite a bit older than I, no pun intended. I am 44 and although I do remember saying the pledge of alegiance I cannot remember hearing a devotional in school. I asked my 13 year old and he said they still say the pledge everyday at his school. As far as your friend having the police crash her private prayer group she needs a LAWYER to file a civil suit fast! She also needs to call FOX NEWS to give them the story, they love stuff like this.

Are you kidding! You people want the government to step in and deny citizens the right to worship where they want? Talk about stepping on the the bill of rights! Which ones apply and which ones dont?

I tend to agree. Look at how we viewed the Japanese after Pearl Harbor? Look what ultimately happened to end that Japanese aggression. Yet, we have today warm ties with the Japanese. How long should it take to realize we can not hold a whole race, or all members of a country, or all of a religion to blame for the ruthless acts of just a few in leadership positions within that race, countyr, or religion. What about Hiltler? Look what he did to Great Britian in the Blitz. Yet Germany and the English, and US are allies now.

IF WE ALLOW THE TERRORISTS OF 911 TO CAUSE US NOW TO ABANDON THE MOST BASIC UNDERPINNINGS OF OUR AMERICAN WAY OF LIFE, IF WE NOW DECIDE RELIGIOUS FREEDOM IS NOT FOR ALL AS OUR CONSTITUTION SAYS IT IS.......THEN THEY HAVE WON BY CAUSING US TO ABANDON OUR VALUES AND OUR WAY OF LIFE.

2 ways to defeat an enemy. Either with brute force, or ideologically. The terrorists can match us blow for blow, but they can cause us to question our way of life in hope we will willfully abandon it.

So I say "NO", I won't call out to stop religious freedom. Obama said we as Americans have to be above this, and see the right to religious freedom as a basic American value that not even a tragedy like 911 can take away from us.

Should we say no Catholic churches near play grounds because of the indescretions and crimes committed by a few of that church? What about the race and religion of the folks that crucified Christ? Should that religion and race be banned from worship in America? Do we want to look deep to mid-evil days and look at the ruthless actions that occurred and were perpetrated by Christians?

Gosh folks, what relgion has a clean slate, and has not experienced ruthless leadership?

Last thought......how many terroristist, extremists, and insurgents in the US, IRAQ,and Afghanistan have we sent to meet with Allah since 911? Point is, punish the individual criminal, not the race, or religion, or nationality.

Lets stay true to what makes us great, our values. Lets see this as a woeful and terrible incident, that as such, is still not enough to make us back away for the freedoms MILLIONS of Americans have fought and died to preserve.

Obama didn't approve it.....he said its not right to deny freedom of religion.
He can't approve it. The New York City folks are the ones who have to issued the building permit, review the zoning laws, and decide what gets built in their City.
