Proposed Ban on Lead Fishing Tackle

    http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/b...roposed_100901

We have got to stop Barack Obama, Lisa Jackson, and the EPA this is really starting to get absurd. Outdoorsmen, we must stand up for ourselves becuase beleive me no one is going to do it for us. Hunters your next, after this it'll be a "Proposed Ban on Lead Bullets". And they wonder why Americans are so fed up and angry with our Government!!!

If you visit this site and go to the bottom of the page and click the "go" button you can send a pre-written letter to Lisa Jackson, Jim Bunning, Mitch McConnell, and Ben Chandler.

Done...and we all need to send this message. The hunting portion of this proposal was turned down (bullets etc) but the fishing tackle (sinkers etc) was not....so you can shoot a bird with lead but you can't take a chance he may eat a lead sinker....!!

i guess you want to bring back lead shot for ducks, leaded gasoline, lead paint, asbestos etc. **** on a lead weight for several days in a row if you think it is safe post your medical records and let us know how it turns out.

We arent all made of money.. some of us would choose to not fish than pay a premium for Tungsten weights (which price for those will probably triple when they become teh only option.)....

and by the way Leaded gas still exists...

Done, thanks for the link. I have read about this several times and it stinks of special interest groups getting their payback from backing candidates of their choosing. Like the article states this ban lacks scientific data to do such a drastic measure.
Kinda reminds me of Global Warming and the false data it touts.

If I remember right there ARE states that have banned lead. California comes to mind. If you go to many sports shop all they carry is tungsten.

Re: Proposed Ban on Lead Fishing Tackle

well I pour alot of my own weights and jig heads and if I have to I'll pour every single one of my baits. I've got about 200 pounds of good clean lead I can pour for enough weights and jig heads to last me 20 years or more, if they ban it i'm not going to let it stop me. They take and take and take a little bit of your freedoms a little at a time and hope you don't notice....not me by God!

Hunters are in the clear from this ban...issue would conflict with the 2nd Amendment. Some feel it was a backdoor attempt to control weapons by anti-gun activists. HOWEVER, a decision is still pending on whether or not to ban lead sinkers and other lead tackle. This is being reviewed by the EPA, but there is a chance it could pass.
