Any particular area of the lake you're looking to fish around?

Does anyone know how the hotel/motel are doing around KY Lake? Is it hard to book a place especially around the major tournament launch sites?

The only time I ever go down is during spring crappie season. If you wanna go during march and April you better reserve 6 months or more in advance.
If you plan on fishing North Ky Lake on the LBL side I suggest you stay at Poplar Creek Lodge. It is located on North Barkley just outside of Poplar Creek but you can easily access ramps on North Barkley or drive a bit down the trace and put in at Pisgah or Sugar Bay, both on North KY on the LBL side. The main reason I suggest ths place is that you won't find a more cleaner nicer place to stay on the lake. Katie, the owner, lives on sight and cleans every room daily PERSONALLY. she will get up and print out a weather report for you and have it on your door before daylight if you want it. Microwaves and small refridgerators in every room, hardwood floors, very nice large bathrooms, excellent beds, all around great place to stay at very reasonable prices. Well worth the few miles to drive to fish North Ky Lake plus if the wind gets up then very easy access to North Barkley to get out of the wind. 270-388-9467, Katie
Speaking of the wind, I'm guessing it's tough when it blows north and south? If it does then you just HAVE to tuck into one of the bays and stay off the main lake?
As you can tell, I've never been there.
Poplar Creek Lodge for N. Barkley area, Bel Air Motel for Ky Dam area, Fishtales Lodge for Paris Landing area. Plenty of public ramps, especially on the north end of the lake. Make your reservations now or you may not get what you want depending on when you are coming down here. Get a copy of the Atlantic Mapping Co GPS map of N. Ky Lake...not only the most detailed paper map of the lake, but it also shows you where the ramps are located.
It can get rough on the water here...monitor your wind forecasts before you launch...just because it is calm in the morning does not mean you won't be in big rollers before it is time to come in and plan accordingly.
Thanks Dave.
I like Bee Spring Lodge Small mom and pop place but a great place to stay. this is were Joe b Hall always eats breakfast at when he is down there
The wind is NO JOKE. I thought people were exaggerating about the stories before my first trip down there and if anything people were still not telling the whole story because it can get downright scary out there at times. Pretty much any North or South wind over 10 causes problems and when you get 15-20 sustaining winds with gust higher than that don't even bother with the main lake unless you are a barge operator. Here is the phone number to the National Weather Center in Paducah that gives you all kinds of info about the lake conditions, 270-744-6331. I use it several times a day when I am down there fishing the twins.
I usually hate to beat a dead horse but in this case, I don't hate it at all. The waves caused by the wind on the two lakes can kill you. They really get huge. Jet skiers are scared of these waves.
