If you are using cement head glue it shouldn't take but an hour or so. If the thread is coming untied it sounds like it is old, or someone didn't know how to tie a whip finish knot.

Yeah cement head glue that's what I got. good help is getting hard to find! although those sand paper lips on a trout take a toll on a lure.

While cement head glue is the correct thing to use ,in a pinch one can use clear fingernail polish.

I also use fingernail polish and have a bottle of "Sally Hansen, Hard as Nails" on my bench. Also use Loctite Epoxy on the heads of streamers.
