Stripernut, ended up with 10 for the night . Started at 5pm, done at 11pm.4 on topwater in jumps.6 on shiners downpoled at
20-30 feet. All off bugwood. Yep, all 23 to 28 inches. But fun anyway.
Great to meet ya man. And thanks for the advice. Right now 12 pm, and sucking bourbon and brews.

No prob. Cumberland. Out from Jamestown. Start toward dam. First set of clay banks on left side. I call that bugwood flats. Also try 1/2 up either beaver or harmony creeks.
They have been in the area for almost 4 weeks now but got shut down for a little bit with the cold fronts but they seem to be back on track again. In my opinion the pattern is different from last year right now. Glad you caught a few Bob, I know where I will be this weekend.
I figure most never check there but party cove was loaded with them a week ago, lots of shad and stripers. And no that was not meant to be spelled with two Ps in party cove either.
We got into them there yesterday evening (Wednesday). They have been in the area for almost 4 weeks now but got shut down for a little bit with the cold fronts but they seem to be back on track again. sounds like more of an evening bite?! was thinking of going sat. morning early... think they will still be around that area? i'll probably put in in beaver if there maybe a chance they will have a morning bite.... only caught them a few times and that was a couple years ago.... would like to find them again i was hooked after the first hit....
thanks you for your info!!! i may see ya down there sometime....
You should be able to get them in the morning as well. They have been active in the morning then die down, again at 3-4, die down then just before dark and continue on. The morning bite though oddly has been hit or miss for some reason, they will be biting or not but they will start again if you don't get the early bite. Early bite has always been the most consistant but not so much recently at least in my experience.
I fish out of a Triton 220 center console with black T-top, Raymarine radar on top, if you see me out there say hello.
cant find anyone to fish with tmrw so doubt i'm gonna make it to the lower end... would really like to get there in the morning though... guess i'll just stay close up fishing creek or pitman... had good luck up there a few years ago hope i can get it again... i'll be that way this week i hope! may try the first of next week
i'm sure i'll see you fishin some day down there... i'm in a white stratos 225 johnson
Last day was Friday, winds crazy high. Ran all over trying to find a place to fish out of the wind. Best schools of fish were in Harmony creek way back, and really massed up on Greasy back just in from the pump station.5 day Mon to Fri, fished no mornings, fished 11 to 8 or 9 each night.18 stripers, most short fish, no blanked days, and 10 first night out. Top water , down poles and free lines.
And did it all on just 7 beers and a pint of Makers.
Bob, thanks for the report. Sounds like the larger fish are still out in the main lake?
got out there a lil late this morning... probably about 45 min later then i should have... no stripers for me no bust seen a some schools of fish on depth finderbut no shad/shiners to drop down... had fun throwing top water though wind killed me after a while, was alone so decided to come back in...got on the water at 7:45 and left about 1230 and one on buzzbait a bunch of blow ups one on shakey head crank bait and about a 3 lber on spinner bait was fighting wind so never really got a hook in him jumped of at the boat
I think you can hit the big guys back in the creeks, just go deeper for them.
It really seems like a spring pattern. You might want to try swim baits at dark cast on points and work deep with them. Might want to try at same points down poles with live bait close to the bottom. Mornings, running boards with little or no weight close to the banks might produce too.
I didn't do any of that, cause I wanted to get the wife on jumps where ever possible. But folks I talked to that shared what they were doing were satisfied with how it worked for them.
I think jumps can still be found in the back 3rd of the creeks, Harmony, Beaver, and Greasey. We found them there, but covered a lot of real estate bouncing around checking them out. Lots of shad up in Caney, near the back, and just under the power lines looked rip for jumps.
Sorry to be confusing, just seems like there's a lot of options, alot of things to try at a lot of places, and all produced some results.
