Aircraft carriers were the very first defensive weapons to enter the Persian Gulf during Desert Storm and the war in Afghanistan. I think a total of ten were sent at one time. The aircraft on those carriers are bombers and they, unlike submarines, are not limited to water. When those jets take to the air, there is a whole lot more to see and do.

I think you have been watching too much tv. Why did you even entertain the idea of Korean troops moving to "our" DMZ, Texas, California, New Mexico, and Arizona, which just happens to be states that border with Mexico? We still have our own butt-kicking military. The wars that are being fought now are not like WWI & WWII; they are much more sophisticated. If the US enters another war within the next ten years, I believe it will be with Iran, Syria, or Turkey. Pakistan isn't entirely off the list because they said yesterday that if the USA gets into another war, they won't help us out. I guess there will be no need since they no longer have to hide bin Lauden.

Montana and Wyoming have plenty of ICBM silos and the mountains are stuffed with missiles that probably will never be used; I'm sure they are not the only states. My friend's husband has been disarming nuclear warheads for the past ten years because they have been declared obsolete.

As far as the present wars the reason is we were attacked. Some don't agree with the wars some do. Either way bad folks are dying and maybe that's enough to keep some innocent folks here and abroad safe.

Unless that part of your post was sarcasm, too? I mean really, carriers not defensive? Same with Japan, did we lose?We destroyed them, and rebuilt them, who won?We wanted free elections in Lebanon, what happened, pro muslim government. There has been only one nation that ever tried to invade us. England. Villia made several raids, and was dealt with. In history, armies that invaded usually brought back plunder.Wars are also fought for economic gain, where were either of those two in Iraq? Thats great research Bob, how many radical muslims are left?This is a wackamole game, our actions are breeding them.I dont want to weaken our country, I want our government to make a clear direct statement, that terrorism against us will result major retaliation.
