    CNN National Security Debate

    Did you guys watch?

I watched all 2 hours. A lot of topics got discussed last night. Good debate.

I certainly believe that Romney and Newt are the class of the field. I'm actually finding myself gravitating more towards Newt.

For those that watched, what did you think about Newts position on immigration??

The RNC is doing Republicans and INDEPENDENTS a serious dis service by not running national ads during prime time, reminding Americans about the debates. I've missed most of them but would GLADLY tune in if I knew about them.

I caught it on youtube.......but I'd love to watch live.

Come ON PUBS................get your head out of your butt.

That illegals who have been here a long time, say 25 years, who have ties to the community, should be allowed to stay, although not granted full citizenship. Obviously, he's taking heat for it from conservatives:

Well.....here is shocking revelation........I AGREE too.

If someone has been here 20 years, is a hard worker, has a job, PAY TAXES, the he should be afforded an "easier" method to stay, NOT a guarantee to citizenship, but simply should not be put back on a boat.

If someone has been here 5 years or less.........SEND THEM BACK. The debate has been going on forever, but for the last 5 years anyone coming here had to have known, they have a good chance of going back.

Anyone here illegally who is serving our country. They can stay, as well as their spouse and kids.

Anyone here illegally who is a criminal........including those in federal, state, local prison.....SEND THEIR ASS BACK...........For hardened criminals, fast track execution . OK I had to throw that in.

Dream Act.......********..........Fullfill your dreams in Mexico City.

    that about sums it up.

I also agree with Newt on this one....and with Geo. lol

However, I will say, that priority #1 before that needs to be BORDER CONTROL. Setting the playbook on who can stay and who goes means nothing if the border has more holes than a milk jug after a day of shooting 22's on the range.

#1 Secure the border...fence, boots on the ground, eyes in the sky...whatever.

#2 Promote the legal means for coming to this country and make it fair, attainable.

#3 Set the playbook on who can stay, who has to go, and make it happen yesterday.

I agree with the "humane" aspects of letting some of the folks stay who have been here for a long time, have families, roots, and have been otherwise law abiding members of society. There's no sense spending millions to round those folks up and send them packing. We just need to make it absolutely clear that anyone in the last 5 years, and anyone deciding to swim for it from here on out, gets sent packing....immediately. Come here legally, or don't come at all.

The one thing we can't control much is that Mexico is apparently the pits of hell and nobody wants to live there.

I admire Newt for having the balls to take the stance, even though he knew it was going to cause him some flack with the right.

I also agree with his Iran stance, as far as:

Iran with a Nuke < Regime Change via War < Regime Change via Covert/Diplomacy

I liked his point to the effect that if the United States really wanted to be SERIOUS about it, we could produce enough oil to drive the price down, ween Europe off the Iranian oil tit, which would crush Iran's economy...then covertly sabotage their only gas refinery so that they become dependent upon importing fuel.

Looks good on paper....not sure how Russia, China, and Mahmood's pal Hugo Chavez would come into play....but at least it's a strategy. What's our strategy now? Hope-N-Change?

No doubt someone finally has the apple sack to say something instead of bull poo stank! I like it too and the ideas he mentioned seem fair. Anxious to hear more about this idea as it will get picked to pieces over the next weeks and months. Kinda diffused the thought of all GOP members being against illegals huh? Sure some die hard Conservatives will have a problem with it but some will think about it and see it makes sense.

I can only imagine the outrage on here if Obama had proposed the same amnesty idea. It would have went from he's trying to get votes to he's destroying this country and so on but since it's coming from the right it's alright.

That's where you're wrong. I would have never listened to anything Obama said in the first place, so I wouldn't have criticized him for it. He speaks and all I hear is wah-wah-wah-wah-wah-wah-wah-wah-hope-wah-wah-change-wah-wah-wah.

    LMAO

I'm sure you would have read about it on here and it wouldn't have been positive.

Now if you read stuff written about Obama on her the same way as you hear it then I apologize.

Actually thought he was gonna do that anyway but had no idea of what plan he had? Yep I would have said it was for votes and still say it....for sure I have issues with just about anything he does. I can't stand the guy. I think he gets away with way to much because he is black and a liberal. I don't like unfair battles, contests or elections...he does all three. He has pretty much stayed on the fence about the immigration topic for his entire presidency or fought states who tried to do what the Feds wouldn't.

I kinda think he is gonna propose the Newt idea now since it has been tossed out there and he can see that it sounds like a good idea. I don't trust him.
