-When you register you show Id to prove you are the person registering. When you vote, you should show Id to prove that the same person registered, is the person voting against that registered name. Otherwise "Miquel" registers, and "Juan posing as" does the voting.

-IMO you have to be a citizen to vote, and so prove of govt id proves you are entitle to vote. I got not beef with that.

    - Yes there are other foreign nationals in the US, but not nearly so many as:

    Nationality of Illegal Aliens
The nationalities of the illegal immigrant population in 2000 as estimated by DHS and the Census Bureau and in 2010 by DHS are as follow:

    2000 CB 2000 INS 2010 DHS
    Mexico 3,871,912 4,808,000 6,640,000
    El Salvador 336,717 189,000 620,000
    Guatemala 238,977 144,000 520,000
    Honduras n/a 138,000 330,000
    Philippines 155,239 85,000 280,000
    India 200,306 70,000 200,000
    Ecuador 105,197 108,000 180,000
    Brazil n/a 77,000 180,000
    Korea 182,621 55,000 170,000
    China 226,896 115,000 130,000
    All others 3,387,556 1,211,000 1,550,000
    8,705,421 7,000,000 10,800,000

So if you want to gain even more support from 2 groups of voters, blacks and Hispanic, that were a big contributor to you before, what do you do? If you are a politician, you make more of those folks eligible to vote.

IF you are an American President most interested in the health of the county and its laws, well then I don't think you do this.

Besides, why does an illegal immigrant get a benefit that I as a citizen born and raised have to show ID (and so gladly) to exercise.

This kinda thing could make me move to Canada, if I didn't hate the wite at the border to shop at Walmart.

So you don't vote? My bad, I thought I might be debating with someone versed in the subject!

Only a person not interested in having the most honest elections possible would be against requiring ID to be shown when casting a vote.

I was just getting ready to tell Parker that, if he doesn't know anything about the political process to stay away from the voting places. We already have too many ignorant people voting for they know not who or what. No offense but he sounds like someone too young to be voting.

In the state where I live, we have to show photo ID to obtain or renew our drivers license, buy car insurance, pay taxes, buy cigarettes, buy beer (I don't smoke or drink), register to vote, buy a concealed weapon permit, hunting license, fishing license, buy a car, sign legal documents, open a bank account, obtain a loan, buy a marriage license.....and the list goes on. I don't understand the big deal about presenting a voter ID card and/or an Immigrant ID if they want to vote. They should already have a box full of ID cards.

This thing seems like it is an effort by Obama to make provisions for illegal aliens to vote and, if he does, they will naturally vote for him.

This post cuts to the chase....he did it get those votes and to benefit from the illegal voters that find ways to vote. He did it to keep his black vote...which many of these voters could care two squats about what he does they just vote color....Thats ignorant, stupid and racist....but it's ok because when your black and hundreds of years ago fellow blacks were done wrong you can do and say anything.

The media targets blacks as broke inner city folks when in fact thats not even close to being true. If I were one of the middle/upper class blacks (financial) who tried and broke away from that sorry image I would be pissed!

Did my asking around today and everyone I asked was just like me. Tell your name and sign the line is all thats required. So with my poll I can assume that a few of you are not being truthful. By the way, I have voted in every election for the last 27 years and not in the same place for all of them.

Re: The Other Shoe has Dropped

You are all missing the point it does not have anything to do with color or race. Please let me from Illinois (Obama's home state) explain it to you. In Chicago (Obama's home town) the living democrats vote three times the dead democrats vote twice and there aren't any republicans to vote and if there were the black panthers with night sticks would meet them outside the voting place.

This is how Obama would like it to be in every state and city but voter ID would stop or slow down all this corruption. So he has his man Holder run rough shod on all the states who think they have a constitutional right to govern themselves.

This is called the Chicago way. None of what this man does is a surprise for us from Illinois and you all are having to learn the Chicago way. Believe me if he get re elected you haven't seen anything yet this is just a small sample of what he has in store for you.

From all the comments that posters have made trying to explain the process to you and all have been honest, you have a lot of nerve accusing us of not being truthful. The truth of the matter is, for some strange reason, YOU STILL DON'T UNDERSTAND. If you did not go down to the Board of Registrars and register to vote after you came of age, then you are not a registered/qualified voter. That's why voter ID is required to prevent voter fraud.

And what you dont seem to understand is I know this. Thats why my name is in the book at the polling station. All im saying is some 18 people I asked today dont show an ID but I am sorry, they must have all lied to me.
