Read one conservative editorial, and one somewhat liberal one. Both agreed, he "called it in",so he tapped danced.What if he didn't show up? A few years back he was mauled for not going to arlington to lay a wreath, he went to a different one [change] Same wars, same dead americans different place,it was a disgrace. Why? Thats why we elect most presidents with a 50+ % of the vote.What the heck could he do to please all of us? He tried, he's half white!!!!

What are your suggestions to deal with these mass shootings?

I dislike and am against most everything Obama does, but what I heard him say is that we HAVE to do SOMETHING and that he is going to consult with various sources to figure out options.

I can't say I disagree with any of that...especially the part where we HAVE to do SOMETHING.

Heard a report this morning that he was referring to new gun legislation and did not want to ''Just say it'' as that would have been tacky even for him.

To ulitimately answer your question would be impossible as there is no way to stop senseless violence and Evil by human beings. It has been going on for centuries. However I do feel getting help for those that are mentally disturbed and dealing with it better is a start. Also the Mother of this young man made a grave error in allowing her weapons to be so readily available to an OBVIOUSLY warped individual. She should have had them under serious lock and key or even off site if necessary. The boys brother was qouted at saying his brother was very disturbed and everyone knew it.

I will also take a moment to get on my personal soap box. Morality in this country is at an all time low. God and family Fathers were taken from the household and schools. There are no consequeces for people's actions anymore. Everything is justified by some lame excuse with a slap on the wrist. There are trophies for everyone and God forbid we hurt anyone's little feelings. It's time to get back to basic moral, God fearing values in this country, the ones our Fathers fought and died for.
Obama is a tool, he is classless and has no clue how to run a county. He is part of the problem in my view, thus my original post of this thread.

Maybe we should start handing out jail time to the family and close friends of these individuals who do these things.

I know it won't matter to the shooters as they are too messed up to care, but I'll bet people closest to these nuts might try to stop or deter them sooner if they're facing jail time.

Could be a slippery slope, however I can't say that idea doesn't have some merit....

My personal opinion is why do we have to do something new? Isn't their laws already in place on gun purchases, registration and punishments for breaking those laws? We can't fix every problem by creating a law when we don't enforce the ones we have (in general terms and I'm referring to Fast and Furious by this admin). This was tragic and it breaks my heart but I say as a leader how about we think and not react with our heart? How many deaths a year are by guns? By drinking and driving? By gang fights? Knives? Drugs? Domestic violence? Why are we so fixated on guns? IMO it's because folks want to limit our rights because they feel the need to control others and nothing is sacred anymore. This murderer could have used a knife, crossbow, pipe bomb, fire or whatever to kill kids and adults and I seriously doubt if ole dufus and his cronies would have jumped in as much as they have. Why would they? They have nothing to gain but this is different because it was a gun and in their eyes guns kill people and it helps their agenda.

I changed the channel as soon as I saw the potus on tv. He had nothing to say that I wanted to hear. I'm with Mark on my feelings about this tool plus I cannot say what I want to say since it would violate the rules of this board. I will say that he and his rich supporters and appointed nutjobs are for gun control and they will use every opportunity to push their agenda.


BTW...doesnt he get an opportunity to appoint a few Supreme Court Judges??

Noone can please everyone. People hated Bush but he dealt with it. He never said hey Black man you hate me because I'm white...did he? Did anyone? The difference now is when we hate this walking turd of a potus "race" gets used as a reason why he is hated. That's why I have maintained from day one of his first term that the dem party had a winning point of view with electing him for potus (congrats to them for selling out the black race). You cannot disagree with him to hard or your called a racist. See the difference?

...I been the same way about this. My facebook news feed is flooded by this so I just scan past it. My friends and family talk about it so I kinda move past the conversation. Not weird just know what most are gonna say before they even say it.

I didn't vote for bush, but I likes his afganistan approach, hated his iraq strategy.I liked mccain, years ago, but when he chose a ditz to take over if anything happened to him, I think that tumor did more damage than he knows.I think it was 1947 when my got my[shoot yer eye out] daisy bb gun[couldn't get them during the war]15 when my got my single shot 12 ga, 17 when I got my wing master. 20 when I got my owm M-1. same age when I got my 30 cal.carbine. 20 when I got to use a 106 reckless rifle, and 21 when I graduated to a 50 cal. on an APC . after I graduated from uncle sugars school of hard knocks, got a great 3 inch 20 gauge pump shot gun,Along the way other firearms were mine. I'm not against gun control, but I sit back and wonder what the hell good is an assault rifle? When I duck hunted or pheasant huntes, we were restricted to tree rounds[practical also fed reg], the thinking was first shot hit em, second shot if neeeded finish it. Third shot, applause on a clean get away. Trying to cure mental illness? hah! we cant even cure clap anymore. I'm pretty sure I'm sane, but I'm hearing voices about you!
