My old brain pan isn't what it used to be but I don't recall EVER saying "we can have starving people as long as they don't bother me." ??
I'm sure Geofisher could find what the current expenditure is for SNAP but I'm attempting to make a simple point. SNAP is rampant with fraud. That's all I'm saying. SNAP is rampant with fraud.
It galls my butt to read about all the ATM SNAP withdrawals at casinos, race tracks, fancy hotels, etc. Definitely places where a "poor needy" person shouldn't be using food funds.
Shipping commodities to the poor would feed them and stop the fraud. Is it practical? No it's not.
Would it be more costly? I don't know, but it's my simple opinion the extra cost could be absorbed by the decrease in fraud.
There would be nothing to prevent the recipients from selling these commodities on the open (black) market. That would be a win for me as I'd be able to purchase black market rice, beans, etc at a much discounted cost than what I'm paying at the market.![]()
