My children are also on the Honor roll. There are alot of kids out there that have parents that could give a crap less about them. I doubt anything he says will inspire all of them but if he can reach just one its worth it.

Oh he will reach many of the kids I can assure you....thats the problem (IMO) The media will make this into one of his grand speeches of course he will have another one to congress shortly because he is hoping to rekindle that "cool" image that has worn off.

I don't blame the "fool" for what Bush did or didn't do. Bush had 6 good years and then 2 years of Dims controlling Congress that's when things went really wrong. I am waiting to see how this idiot ends the war like he said during his campaign how much time does he have left? Oh BTW why don't we hear of the deaths in the war anymore? When Bush was our Commander we were reminded everyday remember? Just another example of the media siding with this idiot fool you guys voted in.

Thanks for the kind words DJD. It aint easy keeping my oldest on there, he is on a traveling little league baseball team and most weekdays are 2 hrs of practice. You done thrown a curve ball at me, Ill have to get some time to research this but it involves a republican who pushed the easy mortgage approvals along with a democrat president. I can remember this story but not names. As for the war I think Obama didnt have any idea what he was getting. The last 2 yrs of Bush, the dems gave him what he wanted and thats a fact. You are correct concerning the deaths being reported, I havent heard of any lately, dont know if its not happening or the media isnt reporting. I suspect its the media not reporting but I dont know for sure. Sorry if I skip around, Im trying to stop and read your questions. Think I'll check with my son's school and if they have any notion of showing this he will be hunting that day.

Maybe he wants to explain why they will be paying for all of the spending he is doing now. That way they might forget by the time they get to voting age. I can just imagine how many kids will come home and tell their parents what a nice man he is after his address.

Okay, I have two kids in school in 7th and 8th grades. I send them to school to learn how to read, write, do math, learn unopinionated facts about history, science etc. What I don't send them to school for is for someone else, be it a teacher, president, congressman or whomever to mold my kids into activists for anyone or anything or to push them towards a political party. If he was going to say something about being patriotic or stay off drugs or apply yourself in school that would be one thing, but this is nothing more than trying to push his liberal activist crap onto kids.
How they can help the president and why they should listen to politicians? Oh I am sure that there is no chance of there being a far leftwing or rightwing nutjob teacher inflicting his or her own political twists into the discussion....If you believe that then you are most likely under the influence of some drug, or are suffering from a supreme case of denial. Even if I truly trusted Obama's agenda and judgement, which I don't and never will, I would not want this activity taking place in school. There is too much of a chance of inhibiting or cohersing a childs future political views. Say there is a classroom and the teacher is democrat and of thirty kids, 29 of the kids family is democrat and there is one kid whose family is Republican or vice versa. During the course of open discussions in class with the teacher and other kids do you think it's possible that the one child may try to conform to "fit in" so he or she is not ostracized by the majority. ie.. political peer pressure. Instead they should be allowed to growup and freely make a decison about the matter.
I don't have the data but I would almost bet most teachers are democrats.
This sounds like the beginnings of a liberal activists version of a Hitler Youth campaign.
And don't go flippin out about the Hitler reference. Obama and Hitler are two seperate nutjobs.

I think that is a very foolish program that I oppose, but I don't see what that has to do with him speaking to the schools.

Also, it says the house passed that bill. So what does that have to do with Obama? Seems to me we need to vote out the members of the house that passed it.

I think some of you are just being crazy about this. If you are so concerned with anyone having any influence on your children other than you - you always have the option to homeschool. Whoever stated the purpose of school is to teach unopinionated facts - you are dead wrong. If that was the case - why don't you buy a set of encyclopedias and start reading it to them. The purpose of schools is to prepare children for a successful future. Do you think sheltering them from any and all opinions/views that differ from your own is aiding in that.

I am a teacher - and I am eagerly awaiting this. Although I didn't agree with most of what GW did - if he had done the same thing - I would have been just as excited about it. I never bring my views into the classroom, however, I respect the office and position of the president - and to shelter your children from hearing the elected president is silly. This is a great educational opportunity - I said it before - I wish every president did this (regardless of affiliation).
