Meant to post this last week. Went to Rough River 2 Friday's ago and a friend of mine in another boat caught a trout. I think a rainbow. He took a pic on his phone and It looked to be about 15-18'' long. Is this common in that lake? Never had seen or heard of anyone catching these on that lake. I think he caught it on a crankbait or jerkbait.

Not that hard to believe since trout are stocked in Rough Creek in Hardin County which feeds Rough River lake. Last April 14 they stocked 750 there. Some of these stocked trout are more than likely going to find there way to the lake. I am just surprised that no one has caught a real big one yet.
Very true. Although, I am shocked that the fish had survived that long in RRL, unless it entered the lake this winter when temps were low. The water temps and conditions in RRL are not suitable for trout during summer/fall months. Not that hard to believe since trout are stocked in Rough Creek in Hardin County which feeds Rough River lake. we have 2 lakes here where the upper lake feeds the lower lake via a spillway. the upper lake is stocked but the lower lake is not. trout are often caught in the lower lake![]()
My grandfather used to take us to the spillway at rough all the time as a kid to trout fish. Used to use the smallest hooks and garlic cheese to catch them. Heard canned corn works as well
I don't know about that creek, but a lot of them they stock in October too.
20+ years ago, I caught a rainbow (8"-9")on Nolin River on the lake side of the dam at White Mills. Nothing is impossible, lol. I actually had a witness also.
