Have they gone nuts in Washington?

I'm surprised nobody's posted about the Super Committee's failure to accomplish a single thing, maybe because they haven't "officially" announced that yet, or maybe because it's only going to produce the same old pointless argument about why that is, which in the end changes nobody's thinking or really accomplishes much of anything besides throwing barbs. I'll keep my thoughts on the subject out of this first post, because I think we can all agree that it's a failure by EVERYBODY in Washington. And some on here won't like me using a CNN link, but this writer doesn't blame one side or the other either:

I blame them ALL............I hate to say it but this has nothing to do with debt, taxes, or budgets........

ALL of them SOB's on the hill are worried about their actions causing them not to get re elected.........I say SCREW THEM. Everyone on the super committee.......GONE.

I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. As a country we need to DEMAND that we pass some legislation enforcing term limits. I'd go as far to say that Federal Judges and Supreme Court judges should be included in those limits.

I'm SICK of **** not getting done because those doing simply don't have the stomach or are concerned for their own skin. CAREER POLITICIANS should be forced to find another CAREER...........

    GRRRRRR..

Re: Have they gone nuts in Washington?

And I will be the FIRST to say it............those SOB Republicans who are trying to change the rules with automatic cuts........THEY SHOULD GO FIRST.........

Like I said.......I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. The country is melting down, the world is melting down, unemployment is out of control, debt is out of control.

    CUT, CUT, CUT...........Tax, Tax, Tax......I don't give a CRAP.........do SOMETHING........

Re: Have they gone nuts in Washington?

Yep they have gone nuts!! They do not respect the people but sure as heck respect the potential votes they can get by double talk and smoke and mirrors.

Vote em out! BTW One part of that article that I think is crap is:

"An honest assessment would lay blame on the White House doorstep, too. Yes, the president finally put up a plan a few weeks back and made a few phone calls. But he has been exercising the most passive leadership imaginable. Nor have the Republican candidates for president been any more engaged. Why are their campaigns so focused only on 2013 and so detached from a crisis that continues to deepen in D.C. right now?"

What has the person been watching or reading about? These GOP folks are beating the Dem Congress and POTUS up over this stuff and they are even giving the GOP members some flack. Newt has been a Pitbull over this stuff! Don't get me wrong I'm fed up with all those crooks but at least call a spade a spade.

It's gonna come down to a real leader, we all know that, and my opinion is who we have now is no where close to where we need to be. Even the CNN person admits that he lacks leadership when we need it the most and the reason is he is running his campaign now.

there is a leader in washington, a guy named nordquist. He's not been elected, but he in effect CONTROLS the republican party. Those 200 plus who signed his pledge, have no allegiance to america, no allegiance to the folks who elected them. Special interests are their only aim.

I didn't go there, because I know there's a lot of other common ground on this subject. I agree 100% that him having the Republicans by the short hairs is a huge problem, but let's not let the Democrats off the hook, and none of them signed his pledge.

Re: Have they gone nuts in Washington?

OK it's official now. Here comes another downgrade!

Washington (CNN) -- Facing harsh reaction from financial markets and a frustrated public, the congressional "super committee" negotiating a possible deficit reduction agreement announced Monday it has failed to reach a deal.
A statement from the panel's co-chairs said that "after months of hard work and intense deliberations, we have come to the conclusion today that it will not be possible to make any bipartisan agreement available to the public before the committee's deadline."
Despite their failure, the committee's co-chairs said "we remain hopeful that Congress can build on this committee's work and can find a way to tackle this issue in a way that works for the American people and our economy."
Markets dropped as news spread of the panel's expected failure. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 248 points Monday, with a minor recovery after being down more than 300 points earlier in the afternoon.

I wish it was within our rights as citizens to can every last one of them and start over. I personally think that our government needs to be ran like a private sector company. If you fail to do the job you were hired, elected to do than your gone period. I can't stand career politicians and never will. They are in it for themselves and no one else. Washington has been nuts for years and it is only getting worse.

Have to say I agree with you about "ALL of them SOB's on the hill are worried about their actions causing them not to get re elected".

I watched a special on CNN last night called "Gerry-Rigged" Why your vote for Congress might not matter and it talked about how boundaries for voting districts play a crucial role in our elections. I have to say that it shed even more light onto what the two parties will do to make sure they get relected, gain seats............

Here's a link to a brief look at the show. The video on the page is only a few minutes long while the actual show was a hour long and will proabably be on CNN again if anyone is interested in watching it.

Might want to have your Blood Pressure pills handy if you do decide to watch it.

I could offer a solution to the current delema, but I'm afraid home land security would be knocking on my door

Said it here before, I'll say it again...make a few dollars for yourself under the table any chance you can...better you to spend it than some suit in Washington spend it for you. Fire'm all!

Re: Have they gone nuts in Washington?

Term limits would be a great place to start. The last couple of times we voted if you had Re-Elect on your ads, you most likely lost my vote. We need to clean em all out. Ever wonder how these guys go into office and suddenly they are millionaires? Take a look at someone like Mitch McConnels net worth now or anybody who has been on the hill for a long time.
