I don't understand. Whose salaries are spending cuts going to affect? The 2.6+ million federal government employees and their 2.6+ billion dollar annual payroll? BTW, that's a roughly $100,000 average annual salary per worker. Throw in their benefits and it's a pretty nice gig. Could they live off less? Most Americans do.

I haven't heard any politicians say unions have outlived their usefulness, and people can live off lower salaries. Maybe I'm wrong though, who said it?

It is very tough right now, the economy is in the tank. I believe private companies are holding back because of the hostile climate the current administration has created, and the extreme uncertainty caused by the current administration. Liberals demonize anyone who makes a lot of money(except themselves of course), and Mr. Obama (a rich guy himself) is the head liberal.

We'd be well on the road to recovery with an administration that believed in shrinking the federal government's size and scope. Those evil companies and rich people are uncertain whether this administration can push through taxes and legislation that will take more of the money they've earned and let the federal government redistribute some of it, and piss away the rest.

Most people with a clue see a government over 15 trillion in debt and spending a trillion or two more every year than they take in, and it makes them very nervous. Doesn't take a genius to see that finances run like that lead to bankruptcy.

IMO, the best possible economic medicine for America would be to turn Mr. Obama and Harry Reid out of office. It may not happen, but that IS the change we desperately need.

Ryan’s proposed budget, approved by almost all House Republicans, is also an exercise in fanaticism.

That budget harms the poor and rewards the rich, but does little or nothing to reduce the federal budget deficit. Over 60 percent of its spending cuts come out of programs for lower-income Americans. Its tax cuts for the rich reduce revenues by $4.6 trillion over the decade while saving the typical millionaire hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.

Did you even read the article behind the link? Mostly it affirms high poverty levels and the absolutely massive increase in government assistance since President Obama took office.

The article has nothing to do with the Democrat taking point drivel you're posting. Your comments about Ryan's budget are straight out of Harry Reid's playbook.

More of the outright Democrat lies and hypocrisy. The evil Republicans want to poison your water and air, they want to throw the poor and elderly in the street, they want to grind the little man underfoot, and kill everyone except the rich. Are that many Americans stupid enough to believe their garbage? I know I sure am sick of it.

They can't stand on Mr. Obama's abysmal failure in virtually every measurable category, so the with the exception of FOX, the media helps them crank up the BS to deafening levels.

Why on God's green earth would Paul Ryan want to hurt the poor? You haven't read his budget, you've simply guzzled a couple gallons of Dimocrat kool aide and started harkin' it up like a spoiled biscuit right here on this blog.

I don't have a friend in the world, that I see eye to eye with. but that don't get in our way to go fishing or have dinner together. we are still friends we just disagree from time to time.

Well over the line on my part, and I apologize.

Been very tough for me to watch this proud independent country suffer through a President who is IMO incompetent, underqualified, and a fraud.

Good luck to you as well.

We will all feel the pain if we don't start using some common sense. Taxes=my 87 yr old father and my 83 yr old mother still working to pay for the property taxes. My dad can hardly walk now and should be in a wheel chair. My mom passes out at work and could loose her job because of her health, but she says she needs to keep working to pay her taxes. Yes taxes are great for everyone. A tax is a tax is a tax. It's punishment.

This country would be much better for it if those who govern quit using the term "spending cuts" when in truth it doesn't apply. In almost all cases when you hear this term there are no actual cuts, just someone proposing cutting the rate of increase of the money being spent on something.

Only in crazy politician speech can spending more money on something still be called a "spending cut". It is all about deceiving the uniformed and scaring people in order to create outrage with the hopes of generating votes.
