I've not done it in years, but you can drive across the lock and park over there.....and then walk down to the wall.

Like I said, I have not done it in a long time, but you used to be able to do just. that.

    Later,

    Geo

It's been several years for me as well but I believe you take the 22nd street exit off 64 and come down to the end of the ramp take a right and then I believe the next right and then look for a sign for Mcalpine Locks on the right. Go across the new bridge and to the end of that road by the hydros. I'm kinda guessing like I said been a while, hopefully someone who has been overthere recently can help more.Might try Map quest. that is correct !

22nd street , turn on northwestern pkwy , on you right a couple blocks down youll see a sign that say Mcalpine Lock & Dam , stay to your left go through the gate and over the bridge , on you left youll see a sign that says Anglers Footpath follow it down to the wall.

ive only had good luck there when the first gate closest to the bank was open. with the work theyve been doing its been shut off for quite some time now.

good luck and be safe down there , that water crazy when they're running all units and the lower dam is runnig good.

I fish that area in my boat.

I do see bank fishermen there about every time I'm at that location.

With the water up, skip livebaiting from there, and go with the same lures you been throwing everywhere else. Been years since I fished it, but I always had luck with Hybrids and White bass there on jig and white grubs cast 45 degrees from the bank anlged down steam with a moderate retrieve as it got pulled up stream by the retrieve and yet drifted toward the bank due to the current.

I would also take a freind along, last time I was there by myself I guess some of the other folks there knew I was alone and well away from my truck. Things almost got interesting. I'm not sure my mother would have been proud of me that day, but I caught fish and came home safe.
